New sky textures Part 5
« on: April 27, 2015, 11:59:02 AM »

Hi all,

A new range of sky textures :

"The age of crystal skies"

I know, the title is probably slightly pompous, but we are here to laugh with friends! Is not it ?   ;)

My recommendations are the same as for: New sky textures Part 1,2,3 & 4
Please, have a look at these topics :

For more infos you can also have a look at Vpmedia Sky textures :
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,44767.0.html

The contents of the folders : HighClouds and HighCloudsNoise should be placed in your folder
#SAS, #DBW,  etc... / MapMods / Maps / _Tex  or  Files / Maps / _Tex

Moreover, you must edit the load.ini of your map according to the instruction of each folder
containing the pics of a specific sky .

Sky texture selector

A small utility file that allows you to easily choose a sky texture :

I have simply put in this folder a representative Jpeg image of
each of my 83 skies textures named by the name of the TGA file that
corresponds to it ...

In this manner, a first choice or a selection is easier  !
and you have thus directly the name of the texture to add to the map load.ini...

Subsequently if you want to narrow down your choices and see other pictures
you can refer to the files named : "Skies Pics&Instructions" of your previous download.

Good flights, Thierry.  ;)

Hi all,

For fans of polarized skies, here, a little update of "New sky textures Part5" :

Bluer, more saturated, denser ... Do not forget to open your cockpits because the summer promises to be hot !!!  8)

For CUP users
1.  Open JSGME.exe

2.  Look for "#CUP_TB SKIES"

3. Activate TB Skies.

4.  Open MAPMODS/Maps, Choose the map you want then apply the relevant .tga in _Tex.

Heres proof it works:

Enjoy!

Thank you Thierry, this an epic game changing masterpiece!  V412 made Il2 more like a proper flight simulator.  Now you have brought more of the graphic choices we are used to with FSX and the like.

I would also like to suggest another fast JSGME option for CUP.  Currently the CUP JSGME TB Skies Option makes many of the Load.INIs accessible for modification in the way that Bravo describes - a good idea but not really that quick and prone to typo screwups if you are not careful.

Alternatively, many of the 361 maps in CUP could be set up with your skies, in advance, and compressed to a single tiny SFS plugin.  Several themes may be presented that could change ALL of the skies in one click!

For variety, and to make use of all of your wonderful skies in CUP (and VPMedia's too), pilots could simply choose TB Skies Theme-01, or TB Skies Theme-02 etc.  We could apply them all and they would be very easy to swap in or out in seconds.  8)

These new cloud textures are simply beautiful. They change the look and feel of the game so much, it brings it to a whole new different level. Wonderful work and so much to choose from.

Many thanks ...

A quick question for Thierry or Istvan.......

I'm having a marvelous time modding CUP's textures, both sky and ground, using the excellent new developments from yourselves and others  :)
In doing so I stumbled across a rather old mod....... Bender's Ultimate Enviroment.
Personally I like Bender's clouds better than Manysh's
I also prefer your high clouds rather than Bender's.

So my question is, is it possible ( or permissible ) to replace Bender's high clouds with your's within Bender's launcher ?

I've tried running Whistler's sky selector (top Mod IMHO) & Bender's Ultimate Enviroment together....but it would appear it's either one or the other... :D

Once again thanks for your new developments........IMHO IL2 has never looked so GORGEOUS  ;D

Cheers

Alfie
