Reworked Burma Patch
« on: March 31, 2010, 01:08:20 PM »

Hi,
As quite a lot of folks d/led my Burma rework I thought I'd post this patch. It sorts out the river colour and I've messed with the textures placement a bit more. I don't always fly combat so it's irrelevant to me whether the map portrays the combat season accurately..and I don't believe the dry, dusty conditions are part of this region. I could be wrong.. This small northwestern area is mostly green, most of the year.

Its goood that there are more extensive Burma maps in the making that cover the mountains, country and combat conditions more thoroughly and I look forward to them - this is fairly accurate for what it is.

Anyway..as a sex/drugs/rocknroll casualty I can't remember where I found the colour values for the river but I thank whoever it was most kindly!

And while I'm at it I'd like to say a huge thankyou to CirX and SAS for some damn cool mods lately - because sometimes I forget to do that too!

Cheers

That looks great. The color of the river is also very good IMHO too.
Jungle rivers are usually very dirty with mud and debris from teh sorrounding forests,
that is great thinking and a wonderful addition.
THANKS!

I don't look at SAS very often so I'm surprised to see this rework of Burma and it looks nice.
The Patch link is not working though.
I was hoping to get a look at your water color values to see if I could use them for BurmaLower map.  The only obstacle would be having brown ocean too.  Someone else was working on a map where he discovered how to use more than one water color so I'm waiting for that info too.
Good work on this rework map!

I'm afraid I'm a bit flummoxed on this one - original map installed and working fine, but upon opening the patch I'm presented with 2 files that I don't know what to do with! Sorry but I'm no modder or map-maker I'm afraid! I've got a load.ini (with a diiferant name to the original) and a map_.TGA
Shame cos I'd really like the muddy water, but at the moment the only thing that's muddy for me is a solution??

You need to find the original map in your install under #UP/MAPMODS or # DBW/MapMODs or Files/mapmods or Mods/mapMods-depends on your install...---and put the 2 files in that one, allow to overwrite if asked to and backup the original.

Thanks for your reply Tom2. I've sussed out what I'm doing wrong - I'm trying to change the water colour in the wrong Burma map; whc_Burma instead of Ramones Burma!!  ???

What a berk - there's too many Burma's around for me to cope with!!  :-\

I did exactly the right thing but with the wrong map.......sorted now, thanks anyway.  ;)

I made some fast testing long ago while working on my Central Med repaint :

You just have to use a plain color pic (orange I suppose ?) for water2 slot in load.ini and to modify map_C picture too that way :

RGB 90 seems a good value to have river color different than ocean color ...

Just be careful about nearby texs on ground because some of them seem to erase water2 effect around...
