i know i know. hehe.
i tested both on 0. and just changed it back to my default , before i made the pastebin. sorry.

at least i learned something new today. i always had water=4.sfs AND one of the blender waves by herra tohtori.sfs active. never realized that only one of this works at the same time... but even after removing both and with water = 0 or 4.. i can't see a difference (nor hear). i wonder if monty included one of the water mods into a CUP SFS by default?

anyway, thats not helping your problem with flybys! just made me curious about how the water mods work and show.

Well, if for whatever reason you are unable to switch water=0 I guess I'll have to wait for someone else to jump in.
Anyone else can spare 5 minutes of his time and test whether flybys work with 'Flyby=1' and 'water=0' and if they do, include conf.ini and log.lst please.

just to clarify. i did switch water to 0 and temporarily removed the mods "water=4.sfs" and waves mod. but i always saw the water looking more or less the same, with reflections, some wave animation and bumpmapping effect.

i thought with water=0 it would just be like.. a FLAT blue surface :D

either way had absolutely no influence on my sounds

if I find some time again I can check but I need to clarify that I do not use any onboard sound but a dedicated SB 3d Recon soundcard which should be fully EAX compatible (need to check this though)

With water=4 or water=2 I still get very silent Flybys in WAW...

Check these sections of CONF.ini...

[sound]
...

SoundUse=1
SoundEngine=1
Speakers=1

...

Attenuation=5
SoundMode=1
SamplingRate=1
NumChannels=4

...

[Mods]
...

Flyby=1
FlybyFov=60.0
ToggleMusic=1
RandomSplash=1

...

[Render_OpenGL]

...

ForceShaders1x=0

...

Already did Monty, but no joy

I understand that flybys are too quite for you with water=0 and water=2 as well?
Adds a new twist to the mystery since I have quite flybys with water=0 but perfectly fine working ones with water=2.

For starters.
To get rid of 'EngineWep2.eff' error either set 'WepEffect=0' or download and unpack this folder into your #WAW folder.
It adds missing effects and you might not need it after WAW part 09 come out.

Now, if flybys are too quite for you, try to download drivers for your audio card, try drivers from your MB manufacturer if its onboard chipset but try drivers provided by your audio card manufacturer as well.
I know its a bother but it might actually help you with the issue and if anything you might get few fps more.

Whats your audio card and if its onboard chipset what mobo do you have?
Here is some investigative work that's been carried out back in the days, might offer some hints as well.

Yes,they're very very silent.

I will download that file now ;)

And also it's really strange...because in HSFX7 the TIGER flybys work beautifully so I don't think it's a problem with my audio card

so i have the same problem, flyby very silent,
i tried changing the config.ini as you suggested in the thread but no solution ...
and i tried to add the file in the thread but no change

it is strange, because i can hear the guns in flyby, but not the engines

is there a way to solve it ? flyby is much fun ... if you can hear it  ;)
