OK lads

Will include these in the upcoming Jet Age Update.  Meanwhile you can grab them now - UnZIP/UnRAR to main Il2 directory.  Missions are available under USMC. - For The Jet Age only!

...and don't be lazy Hamm66!  (You must be joking since I know you to be a brilliant mission builder.)  The jets have many new features that must be mapped to the 'MISC' functions as well as Vectored Thrust (Wing Incidence Keys), Drag-Chutes (got that on backspace - hit the key as your wheels touch down - wham your face is in the windshield!) and, of course, you have to know how your sophisticated new weapon systems work.  The 'Wheelbrake' key, still works as brakes on the ground, but in the air becomes 'un-cage seeker head' - Basically putting the missiles on alert ready to lock, ready to use or back to sleep.

The Harrier's VTOL model is the best VTOL I have flown across dozens of sims in over 20 years.  Carrier traps are particularly fun, smooth and easy once you know how, but don't get complacent - VTOL bites back the second your mind wanders!

I have been developing these training missions in order to become thoroughly familiar with the handling and systems of the new jets.  Also doing the F-16 and the MiG21 (a bloody rocket powered dragster!).  After that its back into the into the time machine for tours over the Bekkah Valley and the Falklands...

Beautiful polished original 3D work from SAS~S3.  An incredible achievement.

Cockpit layout and HUD - Comes to life on engine start with radar functions on Key-MISC-1 and MFD displays on KEY-MISC-5.  Steer the bars and Lock with Misc-3.  That is a working radar and bombsight CCIP, or Nav-Mode- Key-Toggle sight automation - changes HUD mode.

Check out this last shot.  See the Redcross marked huts below the Hornet's port wing?  In this mission you must bomb with pinpoint accuracy to avoid hitting non-combatants.  With the new Heads Up CCIP you can.

And what was the cause of the problem?
Is there a chance those of us who miss this mission might have some incomplete package where more things are missing?

Check difficulties - these can be accessed quickly from the front menu or through QMB and are then remembered by the whole sim.  I generally enable everything except for 'no instant success' and like to keep outside views in place too.

No mate, I will have a good look through there with the upcoming 'The Jet Age Part-06' - everything and the kitchen sink!  ;D

Deci's brilliant QMBPRO missions have inspired me to try and create some Jet Age scenarios, Falklands, Middle East etc, just for QMBPRO.  I do most of my WAW testing in Deci's Benghali these days, it would be nice to have Edwards AFB in QMBPRO for the jet tests...  ;D

Fixed a few issues with the F/A-18 and AV-8 Harrier.

The first mission for the Harrier, there is no cockpit at load up.

Fix
-Open the mission in FMB and select the Harrier flight.
-View Object for the Harrier flight and select one of the planes to player.
-Save and you should be good to go

First Hornet mission loads crashed on the ramp.

Fix
-try opening the mission in FMB and play.  If the Hornet loads ok, save and exit.

or

-Load the mission in FMB and select the Hornet flight.
-go to waypoint #0 and set take off target to center of rwy.
-fly the mission, if plane loads on rwy.  exit
-go back to waypoint 0 and hit the clear button.
-Save and Exit and you should be good to go.

Now you can load the missions from Single Mission and they should work.  If you find other missions that don't work, try loading them in FMB and see how that goes.

My problem.  Cant get the radar to turn on :(

Have fun

Hi C, I wasn't aware of any issues, but if you fix stuff feel free to send them over and we can try and figure out what's happening.

RADAR: you are going to need to remap a lot of keys.  The MISC section does animations and extra functions. - I mapped all the Shift + no. keys to them, so Shift + 1 is MISC-1 etc.  Once you have a good startup execute Shift + 1, or MISC-1, to activate radar.  Another key is mapped to radar mode.  I use R, toggling R will step the radar through several modes.

If you are used to bombing in Il2 then you know the Bombsight Automation Key - Mine is mapped to INS.  In the air with active radar it can now be used to establish a lockon to an airborne target.

The briefings also describe these steps in detail.

I saw few posts above that some guys were having planes exploding on start up.  So I did a few test and that's where I found a few issues with the Naval Ops stuff.  Not sure why mine was goofed, but it was easily fixable.

Monty:

Had to read between the lines a little bit on your radar activation.  I had no idea what those "Misc" key maps were for, so I mapped them like you said and presto, radar is working.  Only took, what, two years to figure that out :) :)  Thanks a bunch.

Thanks !
It seems that these are ' coop ' missions .

Did you try to create ' dogfight ' missions ? If yes you will discover big issues , like unlimited missiles avalaible , base icon not appearing on map , aircraft limitations settings on base resulting in strange effects...
