This will be a WIP thread. !
What you need:
a 4.09m patched IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 install.
So get your game..
Patch to 4.08m
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=1908Get 4.09m here:
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3764Then get and install Ultra Pack 2.01:
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1820And the latest IL-2 selector for quicker game loading. Choose "Classic Mod Game" and save, before starting up the UP2 install.
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16403.0.htmlIf you have issues with it, or wish to have a quick and dirty way of enabling the High Resolution True Color mod and the easy DIIs by carsmaster (all for enabling high resolution skins and textures), I have pre-uploaded my own gaming version of the needed files, if you use these
BACKUP EVERYTHING!!!!!! you replace!!.
https://www.mediafire.com/download/3581i1089he2516/Goes_into...IL-2_Sturmovik_1946.rar
So...now the F-86A/F mods, reason for this mod was simply an updated F-86 cockpit (Mirror!) and some extras, but the cockpit is the center, along with the exported 3D from the Jet Era..and of course
PA_Jeronimo's blister fix!!
Edit:
Now also with new hydraulics code thanks to SAS~Epervier!Once you have UP2.01 up and running
, inside your mods folder, make sure to have the latest SAS buttons for 4.09m.
Order is:
\MODS\STD\gui\gameIn this folder goes the buttons file (related to sounds and flight physics), get the buttons here:
Last post! May 21th version
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,23404.0.htmlNow, in case you use the optional sound files for UV2 I will upload here below, choose the

Summarizing:
Now you have a game patched to 4.09m and installed UP2.01, the latest buttons files.
Now put one of two cockpit versions into your Mods folder:(There will be a 2nd version soon I hope with PA_Jeronimo's new mirror!)
A
Later model blueish grey version (choice by me, rather taste not historical as only Japanese and Australian Sabres seem to have had this tint) textures a.o. by cromhunt, center green glass tint by me along with a fully functional Knots speed gauge and a mirror. Some tex change by me, reticle (2nd stage reticle in 4.09m---key command being:
Toggle sight mode) -by Stefan SG. You will not see the 2nd stage reticle here, in 4.09m you can choose 3 reticle settings. Here is the mod I included in the blue grey pit:

https://www.mediafire.com/download/y8cb4hihp7dji14/Freddy_Cockpits_Sabres_F_HSFX_UP.rarCanopy reflection slightly stronger made here since the grey version lacks a bit of the spatial feel the black version sports...see below.
B
Classic black tune, textures a.o. by cromhunt, center green glass tint by me along with a fully functional Knots speed gauge
and a mirror. My choice.
https://www.mediafire.com/download/17whcc270jgrn5a/Freddy_Cockpits_Sabres_HSFX_UP.rarHere I kept the default 2nd stage reticles for some variation. You can easily swap them out.
Add the jetsmoke by Hangman, goes into your "Mods" folder as well.
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,40938.0.htmlhttps://www.mediafire.com/download/b3dh8a67aa2fqmj/%23_Jetsm.rar#_Jetsm.rarThis adds a more volumetric smoke effect.
----------------
Now add a flashlight mod hehe, for cool external tail lighting..author sadly unknown, anyone who did it has my credit!!
https://www.mediafire.com/download/kf161mxip5dxy4a/00_Flash_Light.rar----------
Same a mod called "Realistic Lights". Very recommended.
----------
----------------------
One thing I recommend is the 6DOF mouse mod, several versions already within Ultra Pack delivered. I use the "6DOFNormalMousePAL" by benitomuso, in the Mods folder.
For non TIR. With such mods you can customize the best FOV and POV for your cockpit!
https://www.mediafire.com/download/eerqq6eh9f0qe7g/6DOFNormalMousePAL.rar
The rest is for sounds and outside model.
This is the hydraulics mod, thanks to SAS~Epervier, goes into "Mods":
For the outside model, you have two choices and all mods from here are "optional" just as the engine smoke mod and lights etc..
Your choice goes into the "mods" folder as well. You have these 3 F-86 versions in your game:
F-86A-5
F-86F-25E
F-86-25L
Whatever I tested, the F-25E model was porked when I used the wing fenced 6'3 wing model....the wing would be having slats notwithstanding.
Which is wrong.
Whatever I tested, also the F-25
L model would be porked when I chose the non wing fence slatted wing...in this case this model would not display moving slats when on takeoff or high alpha maneuvering.
The solution: Choose your preferred F model version and fly it, I saw literally no FM wise difference. With the Slatted wing, you would fly the F-25E F model and with the non slatted "wing fence" wing the F-86F-25L, my choice.
Edit: Stick with the F-25L model at best, the FM is closer to that one IMO.
Yet: There is a slow speed difference between the A model and the F models, IMO the wing fence version makes more sense here. But the choice is up to you. The later non slatted wings allowed for better high speed handing along with hydraulical boosted controls at the cost of higher stall speed.
All planes now have all moving elevators and the wonderful new PA_Jeronimo blister model! Brandnew!!So...long talk:
Choice one6'3
Wing with wing fence

Choice two, slatted wingReplaced by model with canopy new blister only!
https://www.mediafire.com/download/exn8pjm47eqfmc8/!0_Sabre_canopy.rar------------------------------------
And...as important, thanks to SAS~Epervier: Hydraulics code for gear doors and open canopy on takeoff.
Some shots:

For Sounds:
I decided to use ZUV2, Tiger's earlier Sound Mod 2 here, since I did not have to use any extra files for flyby fixes and the alike. Use this at own risk, means, backup everythingl. You can always de-activate this mod with the yellow JSGME.exe in your IL-2 install by moving it from the right of the JSGME screen to the left.
I noticed one bug while testing, in a Quick mission with lots of JU-52s, the flyby and gun sound of the Sabre from cockpit and flyby of course-seemed interrupted pariodically when close to the Tante Ju-52s. Eventually this lead to a crash, after disabling a custom sound mod I used for airbrakes, the crash did not re-appear.
This mod comes here...can be deactivated anytime...but check at least once the flyby and engine sounds!
Download these 4 files below the next text.. Then take the one labelled ZUV2-1-Extract its content to any safe place on your PC...
Means, pick out its content and put it onto any place on your PC e.g the desktop temporarily.
Then do the same with ZUV2-2, ZUV2-3 and ZUV2-4. Allow each time to overwrite the content of the previously created sum folder, that way you get the entire mod named ZUV2.
Put this folder inside your
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\jsgmemods folder.
Then activate it via JSGME.exe.
Done. If you unpacked the 4 folders correctly, the order in the entire final folder is:
ZUV2/Files + Mods aka the parent folder and a Files and Mods folder inside.
These have subfolders, 4 for the Files folder and one for the Mods subfodler...the flyby sounds for the latter..
Here the links:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/bkj5voll3xy66gg/ZUV2-1.rarhttps://www.mediafire.com/download/pnsde22f58rpzxb/ZUV2-2.rarhttps://www.mediafire.com/download/a1bbcg0fdnayw2o/zUV2-3.rarhttps://www.mediafire.com/download/vra7cy0090fb3jk/ZUV-4.rarThe order in which you extract them is not so important, but it is important that you have one final folder called ZUV2.
Reason for this stunt: I cannot upload more than 100MB at a time.
Option:
You can OF COURSE also use UV3 instead , follow this thread for instructions!
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3258.0.htmlKeep in mind what I wrote about buttons....from the buttons section on the top of this post use the buttons file you need, either for Tiger's Sound Mod UV2 or Tiger's Sound Mod UV3, or none of them the default buttons. Important!
This is the WIP mirror we hopefully soon get once a slight bug on the lower left side of the mesh is solved
