I tried to open the 3d model of the F-86 Sabre but it won't load. All I get is this...

Failed to load! System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.

What's going on here?

MSHConverter (v1.18EX and other version) is very picky!
It accepts no format error in the files hier.him and in the mesh files!
It takes a grans cleaning!
In the file hier.him it is best to remove all off lines (# or ; or //).
example :
\\[TU3gunA]

In each mesh file check (mandatory) that it is not:
- Empty data lines
example :
[MaterialMapping]

- The data lines should not be sticking to a tab line

Before we can offer any advice, we have to know exactly what you are doing here...

1. Firstly, there is no "3d model" of any in game aircraft, all aircraft in IL2 comprise a number of individual 3d meshes organised in a hierarchical structure.
2. What programme are you using to try to open it ?
3. What 3d software do you using ?
4. What, exactly, are you hoping to achieve ?
