Question re transferring QMBPro missions to CUP
« on: August 23, 2015, 10:24:45 AM »

I've transferred some QMBPro missions from my DBW install to CUP. These are missions either I've created or missions others have created and made available for download (scramble, airbase, none, etc).

The missions run correctly when first started, but I've noticed the following.

1. When I open the mission in FMB to look at it, aircraft flights (waypoints) are not visible (but all other objects are);
2. If I make even a simple change, such as adding a single static object, the missions won't load anymore. The only way to correct this situation is to manually create the requisite number of flights (8 or 16) for the map. In other words, essentially start all over again.

Anyone know how to get around this? I have a number of missions, previously created, that I'd like to copy over to CUP.

PS: I have made sure the display filter is indeed set to show all objects, so that's not the issue.

Thanks.

I would like to test this. Would you please link the missions?
Or at least name them?  ;)

Make a Backup of the original.
Then use Texteditor to open and check the Missions one by one.

You must set the Missions back to default in order to get them to work.

1. When I open the mission in FMB to look at it, aircraft flights (waypoints) are not visible (but all other objects are);

when the plane isn't available (or disabled) in air.ini) then it and its waypoints aren't shown.
So you have to do what Tobias said: have a look into the missions *.mis with some text editor
and see wich planes are there. Change them there to what is available in the modules air.ini.
This could be done as batch job with ie "editlite" text editor or similar editors easily.

Therefore I said I want to know wich QMB mission you're speaking about to have a look by myself.

2. If I make even a simple change, such as adding a single static object, the missions won't load anymore.
when the mission isn't complete (missing planes) then this is normal behavior.

In other words, essentially start all over again.
yes.  :-X. but with a batch job its not so hard to do this.

Thanks. I'll need to check but I think each mission used stock planes as the "flights" so they should be in the air .ini.

Some missions: Ebro River and Battle of Madrid missions. Also I had created my own QMB missions (again using stock planes for the 8 or 16 flights) then transferred them from DBW to CUP and either one or both sides flights/waypoints were missing.

Again as soon as I can I will cross reference the mission and air ini files to see if it's a missing aircraft issue.

so they should be in the air .ini.

no. for a lot of stock planes this not the case in DOF, TGA, JTW.
Just open the air.inis and have a look.  ;)
so for now we should know in wich module you do this changes.

Gerax: You solved it. I was opening the missions in TGA which did not include the aircraft. When I switched to WAW, they appeared.

So obvious, but I never thought of it.

Thanks.
