If you want an install with functioning infantry , get HSFX7.
It does not have the graphic breadth of CY6's Vietnam era , but it does have static and moving infantry.
It is designed to function practically for optimisation in SEOW online persistent campaigning , but for the speed you fly over in most aircraft , the details of the infantry are seldom noticed.

is it porteable into waw?
or will waw work  super imposed over hsfx7
not too bothered about its graphix

@vikshloss: are you sure you know how modpacks work?

you can try to mix them but you must be very experienced to know what you are doing and there is no guarantee that everything will work!

but as I said it is rather easy to add certain mods to WAW or DOF....

so before starting to complain why things were not included in CUP, try for yourself if you can add them for your personal install....

griff no need to be so touchy bud
i was not complaining i was asking why,
ive had 1 person so far explain a possible avenue to me
the other three seem to think im trying to hurt everybodys feelings,,,

i love the cup  mods
im greatful for all the work that has produced this  system
im greatful for the hours  and burning of the candles people have put in  for our benefit
i am simply asking why the infantry was removed
its not an unreasonable question and its not a bloody complaint, i simply want to know what happened  to cause  removal the infantry, what conflict did it cause if any or was there other reasons
i know i can add , all be it i dont understand java but i know those that do
but before i start effing around with the files i  need to know why , if it caused a conflict  and i know what that was i will know more on how to proceed what to avoid etc

concerning the "why" you would have to adress Simon aka "Monty" as he is the creator of CUP;
there is several things missing yet in WAW (which I am flying most often) but as I have said, it is easy to add stuff into WAW; Sometime I just ran into the java wall again and after removing some stuff (mostly aircraft) everything works fine again;

so if you like to have infantry, just grab the necessary mods from here and add them to your CUP install; but as also said, back up your ini files before, that way you can easily revert back in case anything goes wrong...

i am a little bit touchy in this respect because - and dont get me wrong now (it may sound ruder than it should) - with just a little bit of modding knowledge, question like yours could be easily answered by the guys who post those questions...
and do not forget CUP is for free and it has been a tremendous task to put it all together, test it and release it. things needed to be compiled and uploaded so that we guys can get our greedy hands on them...

so if you are missing anything, add it yourself :) it can be easily done...questioning why it has not been included in the first place are inappropriate;
btw you could also go the TFM 4.12 way or build your own Modact modded game...

thats the beauty of the modding world here...the never ending possibilities...

as of r inappropriate
it snot a case of  wanting to know if  whoever did it  simply cos they did not like infantry or whatever
it simply was  to know if  when cup was put together that the infantry was causing  glitches if so what
whats only why i asked

but your answer there  can help me move forward thx

@ Phil: You are not at all 'touchy' - in fact you said exactly what I would have said if I could put it as well as you do.  You often hit the nail right on the head.

As I did explain to Viking;  The fact that something in 410 DBW is not yet in 412 CUP has a lot more to do with accessing the actual files and testing the newer platform.  Nothing was 'removed' since CUP is a ground up 412 build.

@ Everyone: Its also worth bearing in mind that we all write and post in English here but we come from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures - so the way something is 'said' is always open to interpretation.  Our differences make this community so interesting and vibrant.  In the end we all come from the same place; flying fast and blowing stuff up, alongside the historic appreciation we all share too.
 
The prone infantry and mortars are good for 412 CUP WAW and if anyone has links or cutouts of other infantry mods to try please get it to us.  I think the best solution will be when our resident gurus take this on...

i tried using the cy6 inf cdt on load up Bt based on montys post i might try  each  element in turn to see whichis causing it  and which is useable
if it works will post results here

ok  acting on a pm i have dug in infantry  and prone infantry working
i downloaded cy6 infantry pack from  http://freeil2modding.free-forum.net/vietnam-armor--infantry-pack-vt1642.html  initially i  followed the readme and added everything , game cdt at 60% i then removed it acted on  a comment by monty  and inserted only  dug in infantry and prone infantry  and it works fine , no glitches or errors

thanks for the advice monty and to a coupleof other commnts by griff
im now a step closer to  integrated ground brigades for JFC's internal campaigns :)


so  parts of the cy6 inf ar still a no go but the basic parts work fine
update:
all the static infantry works plus mortar, have not tested howitzer as of yet  but it sin game and n the map
streail doe s appear in listings as does NVAinfantry but the show button unlike for the thers is greyed out and you cant place them but all the other STATIC infantry works and they run and take cover if you attack

ill be seeing if any of the moving  infantry works next

With new upgrades already underway we now have Prone Infantry and Mortars in #WAW and #JTW.

Dawn of Flight also gets a fantastic Cavalry upgrade.

CY6's Vietnam Armour and Infantry has not been successful in version 412, so far.  We can do some isolated tests on that in the next round but it has been pulled from the latest #JTW Part-09 for now.

The infantry figures we all remember well were in Ultrapack, and therefore DBW and New-TFM etc.  Does anyone have the source files for that mod?

Sorry to bump in, no time to explain, but;
 
 every of the mentioned works well in CUP. CY6 infantry and armor too, except boats which were made for one of the maps only. even strela guy works; and he will shoot you into pieces if you come too near. in the viet armor topic is a link somewhere, for changed .ini entries which work in 4.12.2.
that mod had a problem with an aa unit which had to be removed in order to function at all, and with these entries it will work in 4.12.+CUP too.

i am not at home atm; but if you need, i can supply my entries and screenshots if needed. taskent missile destroyer works too, if of interest; and there were some botched entries of western0221 stuff too; it seems like cup contains much more stuff that doesnt show up because entries were overwritten so often and not checked after that.

well  as stated above i have all of the cy6 infantry working  (thats static infantry only) except for streilla and NVA the sf us and vc all work fine prone dug in and kneeling they have caused no errors i have them working in  jtw  as well as the mortars  and us howitzer form cy6 infantry pack
 for waw i have used the us prone and dug in infantry
they work fine
