The SRTM data was not available apparently just flat land in the left hand corner.

OK, here's a first version for download.

https://www.mediafire.com/?uzdgm5yzjzl

This is mainly a map for hypothetical scenarios since I don't think much happened in the way of military engagements of any size in this area. Still, it was fun to make and has a good feel to it. I didn't put in any 3D trees which come with forest textures. I hope that the other textures are a vivid enough approximation of the heavily forested terrain of New Guinea.

I also tried out some shallow water making and the placing of underwater reefs - this is still in a beginners way, but the results aren't too bad. Maybe in a later version I'll try and do some more work on this aspect. On maps with large water areas it can be a nice touch.

I also changed the water color to what i hope is something more like a Pacific water color. If it's not to your liking or if my monitor should perhaps give a less than decent color rendering, just strike out the lines:

WaterColorATI = 0.000 0.080 0.175  //Only used for ATI
WaterColorNV = 0.000 0.080 0.175  //Only used for Nvidia

or put in your own values ...

Here are a few screenshots, mainly of the islands:

Absolutely Sweet Sir Agracier

Downloading this morning.

I lived in Cairns so it will be interesting to see your Northern Oz textures.
My father use to fly to Horne Island once in a while with the civil aviation authority.
He's seen a lot of interest W.W.2 relics up in that region.

Hi Agracier, map looks great in FMB. Thanks, I live further South than this, but this part of the world obviously interests us.

However, can't make a mission because of following missing objects from my Static.ini :-

buildings.House$StoneFence_003_3
buildings.House$FurnitureTreeLine1
buildings.House$FurnitureTreeBroad2
buildings.House$FurnitureTreeFlame_tree
buildings.House$FurnitureTreeLineW1
buildings.House$FurnitureTreeYellow
buildings.Plate$RoadPlate1sk_Rail
buildings.House$General_Service

Any idea where I can find them? I've got a swag of your other work, but no go with this.

Thanks a lot.

The trees are all from fabianfreds objects - I believe they come with either the ffb_Thailand and/or the Burmalower maps ...

The other 3 objects ... I'll have to look them up ... Stone fence sounds like perhaps from Canons Channel map but I'm not 100% sure ...

Here's a new actors.static file without the stonefence, sk_plate and the general house ... these aren't really important.

It still does contain fabianfreds trees though. Those are very good for tropical settings, so I'd suggest you try and install those objects.

Here's a link to a new actors:

download, backup your old actors first and then copy this new one into your map directory. If you could, let me know how it works so i can include it in subsequent versions ..

Hi Sir Agracier,

The textures on this map look pretty damn realistic.
You've got the true feeling of Northern Aus.
A pity we need a new set of Rainforest/bush tress for this map.

The map itself a BRILLIANT EFFORT  ;D Yes I am shouting cause I love the texture painting on it.  Once again a job well done ;)

One little note I noticed the copious amounts of red houses. Looked a tad out of place.
I know there are NO Aussie objects in the fmb but just an idea or two;

Didn't Fred find a few extra one story Pacific houses and shacks in the static.ini?
I think you just had to put this symbol[ in fornt and at the end ]of the first line to get them to show. They had all the values in place already.

Using the Jap 2 story Station house joining two or four together might make for old Queensland style pubs.

The old Queenslander style house would have to be a new object if anyone else can think of an idea for those.

Just thoughts other than that the textures on this map are truly superb 8)

Here's some Photos of the actual Higgins Field at Bamaga and some relics still there today
