Need help with Montys Campaigns in DOF, please.
« on: September 08, 2015, 05:43:49 PM »

Just downloaded Montys Campaigns, and Unrar'd into IL-2 412.2 Dawn of Flight. All seemed OK, until I tried to fly the first Mission, when the a/c nosedived from a standing start right into the ground with the engine blasting away and me about three feet deep! Same on all consequent Missions no matter what I did. I've checked all the variables in the Options and all are correct. Same applies to all a/c in all Missions. Never had this before so I don't know where to start or what is causing it. Any Techies out there can help me, please?

Happened to me first time up, in mission #1. Not sure why. Didn't happen again. Came to the conclusion that the first time, I had my throttle slightly forward, as usually seems needed in Il-2 for the engine to catch. So second time I made sure the throttle was at idle. But maybe it was because I throttled up with the invisible chocks still in position; the briefing mentions these so IIRC second time out I also hit the 'chocks away' key, before throttling up.

Don't know about Monty's recent campaign download, but in DOF generally, with some of the very early aircraft, such as the Nieuport N4, this happens. I suspect it's because the airframe is so light and the engine is revving with a relatively good deal of power. To get around it, I set the chocks, start engine, warm up, then release the chocks. Takes off fine then.

I read with some interest what you were saying about chocks and and engine settings.  Therein is where my problems seem to lie.  When the mission has loaded, simultaneously (like "right now"), my aircraft is straight up into the air, pieces fly off, and I crash to earth and explode.  There is no time to do anything concerning chocks, engine, nothing.  I know that my reflexes aren't good any more, but it all happens ridiculously fast.  But it seems to be most prevalent in the Royal Flying Corps.  That's what I am trying thus far.

I've been trying to send you a PM, ol'Navy, but the system won't recognize your handle. Could you PM me so we can maybe work together on this as we seem to have the same problems? Cheers.

From what you describe now, looks like you have a different issue. Sorry I could not help.

Thanks for taking your time with it.  I am very afraid I am s##t outa' luck.  I didn't have very much hair to start with, but now I am pulling out what is left trying to figure out what I did wrong.

I set up the Flight model as per Sas Montys instructions.
You will have assign a key for Chocks in. And Hey Presto...The Farman will fly..
Take -off is more of a zig zag and a prayer.
Have'nt noticed what happen to the other two Farmans.. To busy
 It more waddles than flies.
Have,nt managed to clear the mountain range to the South yet... 10,000 feet high in old money
It also lands like a thrown brick.
Well done C.U.P

I have done as instructed.  All is working far as I can tell, except the campaigns with the Royal Flying Corps.  Can anyone here tell me whether they are successfully flying either of those?  Finally, I do apologize for being such a pain about this, but as I said earlier, I am just trying to get my proverbial "ducks in a row" before Monty releases the campaigns for WAW.  Most often my problems are of my own making.  I can't figure out what I have done this time though.  I need to learn with you smart guy's help.  Thank you.

A couple of days ago I learned that in addition to the recommended Difficulty settings, an item in the JSGME, #CUP_Forgotten Countries, should be ACTIVATED.

I've also learned that another item included in the JSGME, PAL's #CUP_MissionProCombov4122, something I'd been using since I put together my CUP installation a few weeks ago, should NOT be activated.  Once I'd de-activated this, and activated Forgotten Countries, ALL of Monty's DOF missions began to work perfectly.

This is rather a duplicate thread. Here's a link to the original ongoing discussion of the same problems:

It appears you have solved my difficulties with just a couple of key strokes.  Prior to this, I don't guess I had ever had The Forgotten Countries mod enabled, and I always have the CUP MissionPro enabled.  I did what you said above, and lo and behold, my campaigns work also (I haven't tried beyond the RFC yet).  I was about to go cross eyed watching my aircraft go up, then down, then explode, no matter what I tried.  Thank you very very much for your help.

EHood, Thank You....again, activating Forgotten Countries fixed my problems.

I really thought I was keeping on top of things but I never thought of this.

Thanks again.
