I have installed HSFX7 successfully on my Lenovo Z70-80 laptop. When I set up a QMB I can go to the start and move the mouse or joystick around the screen but when I press engine start key I I receive the messages 'Il2fb.exe has stopped working.' ' A problem caused the program to stop working correctly'. This does not tell me what is wrong and the system goes back to the programme lists. It is a new factory fresh computer with enough power to run this sim easily. Can anyone explain the problem? I don't have a dvd in the drive. as I was under the impression this is not needed.

first you have to put the IL2 folder outside program file.
Put in the C root or eventually in a subfolder
than try with the IL2 selector

and set more memory, usually 512 is more then enough
you can even set XP compatibility

Thank you Oberst I will try re installing Il2 Selector directly in C drive. I have plenty of memory. Does the Selector override the Il2fb,exe line from outside the 1946 folder?

you have to move all the IL2 1946 folders and files outside program file

Just to clarify. My current setup is as follows.
c:/Il2hsfx7/Il2 1946 v4.08m/
The latter file includes Il2 v4.08 to 4.12.2, jsgme mods hsfx7 and Il2fb
From what you advise I need to replace the Il2fb but from where to where.
Sorry if I sound dim but I am new to this but willing to learn.

your Il 1946 is already outside program files so it's fine
just download the IL2 selector and put it inside your IL2 folder (I think is Il2 1946 v4.08m) the same folder where you have your HSFX7 files
set 512mb (you can try other setup but usually the best is 512mb) select HSFX and play

Hi Oberst. I did as you suggested and as soon as I press the start engine key a new message comes up. 'Il2 6Dof/TIR Enabled Executable for modded Il2 Sturmovik 1946 has stopped working.'
I looked for this in the file lists but could not find it. I need your help again.

I don't use IL2 anymore nor I have it installed.
As far as I remember I solved it enabling 6dof from the JSGME folder

I will load 6Dof into the jsgme and see what happens. It is probably a simple thing but frustrating  as I have some HSFX campaigns to fly.

Under jsgme folder I added and enabled DBW 6DOF Normal Mouse by PAL,DBW  6DOF XY Mouse by PAL, and DBW 6dof TrackIR_Class files but still get the same message when I start a Mission. i.e. 'Il2 6Dof/TIR Enabled Executable for modded Il2 sturmovik 1946 has stopped working'. I cannot find this specific item in the system anywhere. BTW I don't use Track IR.
I cannot play HSFX until this is resolved. Help.

I had similar issue with DBW and solved in that way
Never used HSFX
