Texans over the Congo
« on: October 31, 2015, 01:17:52 PM »

In response to a request from PIAJR here's a small collection of armed T-6's and Harvards flown in ground attack roles during the turbulent late 50s and 60s in the Congo. Most of these aircraft, except for the Belgian machines were flown by mercenaries/contract pilots from one nation or another. Belgian T-6s converted to armed aircraft were designated T-6-4KAs. A number of these subsequently served with the Congolese Air Force, others ended up in Katanga. The camo patterns on the Katangan aircraft are approximations based upon avialble data. JESTERS INK template was used for all the skins. Hope you enjoy them. :)

Now we need a couple of  SAAB J29F and C (PR) for the UN contingent along with the Indian F86. The rebel forces also need the Fogia for their airforce.

This was 'Penny'. she was named after my mother, which was the nickname he had given her. i still have the Katangese cross that was fixed under the cockpit. dad carried out quite a few succesful bombing missions in her against the ANC
I am currently writing my second book about him, this one is his post WW2 career and Katanga. lots of great info in there...
the pic is dad flying in her.
