I did not know the engine smoke came out of the rear, near the landing area deck.
That looks kind of dangerous

It wasn't a good arrangement. The smoke vents ran along the inside of the hanger which took up a lot of space and when operating in warm climates made the hanger too hot.
The sister ships Courageous and Glorious were converted with what became the normal Bridge/Funnel Stack arrangement on the starboard side to avoid having all the ducting.
