Reggiane RE.2000GA Falco



The RE.2000GA "Grande Autonomia" was the long range variant of the Falco. This version featured a new fuselage/cockpit design, additional fuel tanks (2x170 liters), new radio equipment,
and a slighty improved engine (Piaggio P.IXbis). The plane was more heavier and slower (520 km/h instead of 530) than the basic version, but the with a total range of 1.200/1.300 km.
Only 12 GA were produced, 9 of them assigned to 377a Squadriglia Autonoma Caccia Terrestre deployed in Sicily.
The Re.2000GA was used for various duties: naval convoy escort, recon and CAP over the Strait of Sicily and Malta, from spring '41 until September '42.
