right, some initial feedback from my testing - first thing i did was compare the two classes you sent me with what i already have exisitng in my install, and this is what i found:
in my Modact 530 install, i found the first class, 9147012A04461808 appeared in 3 different mods i had installed.
1 - SAS Engine Mod ------- date modded: 11/8/2013, size 18.4KB
2 - PAL_Cockpit_Sounds ----- date modded: 8/30/2013, size 24KB
3 - # blue flame mod ------- date modded: 7/1/2012, size 25.2KB
the one i just received for testing is dated 10/26/2012, and size 29KB.
i disabled the others, and tested with just this one, and initial results seem to show blue flames functioning properly for all planes that i tested (i just randomly chose half a dozen planes, and all working great)
a similar scenario exists for the second classfile, C1175F8CD8B28230.
so, just looking at superficially like that, without going into the dark heart of java, i can see that, although this file is not the latest (date-wise), but it is the biggest in size, meaning it has more info in it than the others.
i still need to test more to confirm, but it appears as if the Engine Mod files and/or the PAL_CockpitSounds files are the cause of the flames disappearing, at least partially... they are the most recently modded ones, but they contain less data than the older ones, which means either something was removed, or not put in to begin with.
using either of those, i only get blue flames with the 109's, not any other planes.
so the one i got for testing seems to be the correct one, at least as far as i've been testing.
as for the wep eff file, i found three as well, but they are all exact duplicates of each other.
will give some more feedback once i get time for a more conclusive test, but for now that's what i've found.
hope this helps someone.
