AI Voices Cause Crash
« on: January 10, 2016, 01:00:04 AM »

Hi there,

First-off thanks for all the help/hard work. It's great to see IL2 still alive after all these years. I used to fly in USN and now a few of us want to revisit this great sim as really nothing comes close to it in a few key areas.

The problem I'm having is that when flying a med/hvy bomber in HSFX (B25, B24), the sim crashes when a voice actor speaks (ie "Enemy plane at 2 o'clock"). I'm in a gunner's position at the time of the crash. I've checked that stock 4.12.2m works fine but I get the crash every time in HSFX7.

Any leads?

Thanks again...

Please describe more about your problem.

1 - Is your HSFX7 updated to 7.0.3 correctly by AutoUpdater ?
2 - Do you install some single MODs onto your HSFX7 ? or nothing ?
3 - Please paste the error log you faced the crashing.

In my testing pure HSFX7.0.3 , QMB - Normandy1 - Allies - None (Dogfight) ....
-- 4x B-17G (I ride) + 4x P-51D + 4x Mosquito + 4x P-47D  vs. 4x Bf109K + 4x Fw190D-9 + 4x Me262A-2a

The AI radio message "Enemy plane at 12 o'clock" as you say .... does nothing bad.
The game continues all OK.
But the first friendly AI plane is shot down and say "I'm shot down!" in the radio, the game crashes.
The error log is here.

Is your error same? or another?

Thanks for your quick response...

1. The core 4.12.2m is from Steam and HSFX 7.0.3 is from that French site. I DL'ed Steam as per normal and then followed the instructions on the French site to get HSFX installed correctly. No auto-updater was used and as far as I can tell the install was flawless (except for the current error of course).

2. Nothing "extra" has been installed or modded other than what came with HSFX7 that I enabled in JSGME. These are Hakenkreuz and Perfect Textures.

3. I cannot find the errorlog that remotely looks like yours. I enabled eventlog and log to write to file but I don't see any of that reporting.

(your second post)

The mission is just a simple test on a old generic DF map (NET1summer) with me in a  B25J and 4xKi27ko as gunnery target practice. As the AI B25 pilot flies to targets, when we get in visual range and the AI calls out "Bandits at 2 o'clock" the sim crashes in about 2-6 seconds of that initial voice trigger. In stock 4.12.2m everything is fine with the same mission.

So it's slightly different that your error but in the same family of errors IMO.

Hope this helps.

Ok..just tested something else...

Made a simple 4v4 (Hellcats vs Ki43s) and set the play plane to #4 of the cat flight. The map is OnlineIslands. Crashed right away upon loading.

This might be important:
Stock IL2 is lists 4.12.2m but when HSFX is enabled via JSGME, I see v4.12.1 HSFXv7
Why is it reverting to 4.12.1? IS that normal?

Thanks again...

Hi,

Just want to say that I did a test with an installation of HSFX7.0.3 over 4.12.2m. This is a modded installation with a variety of mods on top so not exactly the same set up as those above.

4 flights of 4 x B-17G (Play #1 in first flight) Vs 1 x Fi-156 + 2 flights of 4 Bf-109G-6s.  Several B-17Gs in second and third flight were shot down, with AI voice messages announcing shot down but the game continued.

It may be something more specific than just 'player in medium/ heavy bomber and AI friendly being shot down' environment.

Cheers,
