Hi Guys !  :)

Hello, guys !  :)

While looking for building a Jet War Campaign, I found this topic, dealing with Indochina war.

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,19034.msg213233.html#msg213233

After a few researches, especially for skins,  I have decided to do a “what if?” campaign, which starts on the end of 1950, based on the fact that the Chinese, heavily involved in Korean war, have also decided to supply the Vietnamese communists with supplies, weapons and  airforce !

So that's a mix between the Indochina war and the Korean war, which enables me to build different sorts of missions for bombers and fighters !

These 9 mini-campaigns ( 8 missions each) are for pilots of the Aeronavale (Navy) and Armée de l'Air (Air Force) and deal with the Helldiver, the Dauntless, The Corsair, The Hellcat, the Bearcat, the Seafire, the Spitfire Mk9, the Kingcobra, the Mosquito and some bonus missions with surprise guests !

You will notice that A-26B and Skyraider are missing. That's because they're on TJW and as most of the planes of these campaigns are on WAW, it would have been very difficult to make a transfer...If these 2 greats planes come to WAW, I will do an addition...especially if there are some skins available ! ;)

As usual, this campaigns are shorts but I try to make them more immersive by use of C& environment and happy taxiing....As usual, and even if it is a factional set of campaign, I tried to keep feet on earth ! All these types of planes were used by France during this conflict.

These campaigns have been designed to be played with  CUP-WAW 20, I don't know if they worked with something else, but if someone want to try, he has my blessing ;D...This is a huge download (100 MB) mostly due to the skins folder...I should have reduce their number, but they are so beautiful that I can't make up my mind ! :P

I do hope that you will enjoy this campaign set !As it was a long work, I am open to constructive remarks only !

Credits

Oleg Maddox and 1C company

I thank a lot Anatoli for his templating work on the South Vietnam colony map, Mission bug and CzechTexan  for these maps, Trompelamort, Obelix,UF_Josse, Zargos and the others skiners for their magnificent work ! A special dedicate for Vtrelut who has compiled them very efficiently at Mission for Today.

A very big thank you to all for your great job !

Dear Poussin,
I am happy to see a new campaign created by you.
I tried the campaign of the Bearcat but got an fps of 2.
I checked the campaign with "IL2 validation script v02" and found a lot of missing objects including Cand.
You remember perhaps that with your campaign "Nightfighter1941" I got also an fps of 2 due to Cand Navunit.
You fixed it.
Maybe the reason of the present low fps also lies in the missing Cand?
I hope that it can help you.
Best regards.

Dear Griffon,
indeed, in the Nightfighter1941 there was a Cand fireunit which was missing. I replace it by navunit and got 30 fps.
See the thread:

Il2 validation script is powerful

I will erase them and re-upload the corrected script !

Dear Poussin,
I am really an amateur in informatica and I was able to use the validation script. Hereby the thread: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=45182.msg506409#msg506409.
You also need  Python35 which is available on the net.
Best regards.

Poussin, thanks for a great set of new campaigns :)

concerning the cand-thingie...just open up stationary.ini and look for that damn thingie and how it should be called up in the missions;
should be easy to do as CUP contains a whole lot of these cand-something thingies :)

Hello POUSSIN1, thank you very much for finally bringing a set of campaigns to the Vietnam maps for us, greatly appreciated. 8)

Much work went into the three maps I worked on and Anatoli was instrumental in encouraging me to complete the projects and adding the amazing
templates.  He was also the one who provided much of the data and mission templates that ultimately became the fixed detail you see in areas of
those maps, without his continued support and encouragement I doubt they would have got as far as they did.  Sadly, campaigns I planned never came
to be as other projects came along. The Colonial and Viet Minh maps were started to build campaigns and missions for two distinct periods, sadly my machines inability
at the time to work on the Viet Minh map without issues meant it was never finished completely.  Dien Bien Phu was a case in point, some said it was not authentic
and needed to be re-built, maybe one day me and Anatoli might visit the project again and finish things off properly.

I am unable these days to use the flight stick for long periods but I fired up the first Air Cobra mission last night and watched as the AI did its thing, the detail
and immersion in that first sortie was amazing to behold and the view along the coast reminded me of just how much work it had taken to get things right visually
in that most important part of the map, thank you very much for taking me back to a project I so loved doing. 8)

With a bit of luck Anatoli and his band of aviators as well as countless others will find these campaigns and play and enjoy the experience I cannot.

Again, thank you so very much for taking the time and effort to bring this theatre to life at last and make all the hard work by me and others worthwhile.

Take care of yourself.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hi ! By the way, FireUnit was included in the former 4.10 Command & Control version, and deleted in the 4.12 edition of C&C mod (that's why this unit appeared 'missing'). So it was a problem of 4.10-to-4.12 campaign conversion, while these 'Indochine' campaigns have been designed to be played with CUP, and consequently any missing unit would probably come from a corrupted SFS file...
