Quality Control
« on: March 24, 2016, 01:35:39 PM »

Let me first say this is for me at least triple A mod and creators did wonderful job. However the quality control is not good.

First bug was encountered when game refused to proceed after  selector splash screen. this I had to ninja solve it with copying sas modact files to root. There is no way a newbie would solve this issue. Second problem is that qmb and fmb refuse to start missions and game locks up at 30 percent when loading planes. As I have no clue how to repair this mess im posting here the log.

Ok fixed it by disabling mod sounds but I mean comoon.

hate to say it, but i would lay good money on this being another example of failure to install correctly - its strange how 80% + get this right the first time and yet others fail, of the remainder a small percentage are due to corrupted downloads, the rest...user error.

Don't take offense but so many of these complaints are usually followed by posts stating how the install instructions were followed to the letter, yet when checked, something somewhere has been missed.

the 30% issue has been well documented, use JSGME sound files, fixes Merlin engine error.

I would suggest before posting anything else you read through this https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,47647.0.html take a while and read the manual too....

hope this helps

PS. Bitching at the quality control is usually enough to guarantee a lack of help from others

If you are talking about CUP WAW, it works fine.
As long as you take time and follow the instructions it will work.
It then depends on how good (or bad) your computer is.
I have a low to medium pc, ( about 8years old) and I just had to tweak the conf.ini file to allow map loading and improve frame rate.
Apart from that, my install is pure vanilla. No extras or add ons, apart from the official CUP updates.
Just calm down, and reinstall it again, don't rush it, and follow the instructions to the letter.
Don't give up. The results will be worth it.

Imho its a missing sasup_decals_01.sfs, its part of SAS modact 5.3 and is located in the 'jsgmemods' folder under the name '#SAS_Forgotten Countries'. I'm not a CUP user but I'd try to activate that mod via jsgme after I've checked the manual.pdf for additional info.

:P ... nice one - this post has 'user error' written all over it, but the OP chooses to blame the modders for quality issues.
strange how all those who choose to post and blame the mod creators simply end up showing that it is them who didn't follow and read instructions properly.
'quality control', indeed.....
another one added to my ignore list.

Mathematics all shows rather than Statistics:

'vpmedia' + 'user error' = long live SAS and Mods - (popular)

... another one ...

'Malone' + 'user error' = ignore list - (very popular) in this world but ...

this just attracted & extracted negativity ... therefore i'm only for - (popular)

nice one ...

i agree there can be negative associations with me saying things like 'welcome to my ignore list'
however, i defend my comments through this logic - you try repeating the same advice for new members (even though you have also added all required info in thread stickies already), and see how you feel after more than 7 years of repeating this same stuff almost every day, like a parrot.
so, although it may seem a little harsh, i feel more than justified in my response. ;)

IL-2 customer support is easy, you just ask for a log like a parrot :D and nine times out of ten it has somekind of an answer. My average workday is to do a complex website project with a customer whos lazy, doesn't know what he wants, has a terrible taste in design, but the same time arrogant because he pays the bill. :)

I am with Malone in this one!
hell when I started with flight simming there were 400+ page manuals and NO internet forums to complain about stuff...it was RTFM and UTFM (understand the....manual);
so how hard can it be today to adhere to the same principles?
even more so when there is this sinister search function here.....

oh and complaining about "quality control" for stuff that costs nothing and simply asks for a little bit of reading and understanding how to work with it is like sitting there with a banana and bitching about the quality control of mother nature because there is not online quick user guide on how to get to the eatable part....

sarcasm off now :d
