Which mods for improving graphics /  terrain / cockpits, etc, would you recommend to install ? I play only single player.
Thank you

Welcome to SAS BlueBird

First off - be prepared to have this moved to the "New Member Safety Area."

To answer your question - C.U.P. is your complete package to begin with. Go to the download page, begin downloading its files and manual. Then begin to read the manual and the install instructions that come with each module and file and above all, be patient.

Keep in mind that you can get help along the way BUT if you begin asking questions that others have asked before, you received errors during your install, etc, etc. you will receive some negative replies.  The reason for this is that everyone here volunteers their time to support the site and the MODs.  It is completely free and with such support it is expected that you take the time to read the instructions that have been so carefully prepared.  Also, if you have a question that the install instructions/manual is not clear for you - do a search in this forum - you may find it has already been asked and answered.

Are you focusing on a particular time period to fly?  Il-2 is obviously focused on WW2 but C.U.P. provides modules for WWI, the inter-war years and the jet age as well.  You need only install the maps "MME files" completely then the time period you are interested in.

Are you new to IL-2?  FYI - you can have as many copies of the game on your PC as you like so if you would like to try more than one MOD, example C.U.P. and HSFX, than you can have one game for C.U.P and one game for HSFX.

Also keep in mind - you must use Il-2 1946 ver. 4.12.2 for any MOD you wish to use including C.U.P. or HSFX.  IL-2 1946 ver. 4.13 and MODs will not work.

Create and maintain one "Clean" copy of Il-2 1946 ver. 4.12.2.  Create a new folder and name what you want then select and copy the entire contents of your "Clean"Il-2 1946 folder and paste it into your new folder.  Your new folder is where you MOD.  If things go bad, you can simply delete the contents of that folder and repeat the above to start new. This is prevent you from needing to re-install the game.

Examples of the Il-2 versions I have on my PC. The below are the titles I use for the folders for each version:

Clean Il-2 1946 ver. 4.12.2
Il-2 C.U.P. for ver. 4.12.2
HSFX 7.03 for ver. 4.12.2
Il-2 ver. 4.13

I only installed the game once, then created the new folders and titled them as above.

Take your time installing C.U.P., read the install instructions for each part before installing that part, and when you have it installed - enjoy.

Hello and welcome to SAS, Bluebird....

To improve the graphics i strongly suggest SweetFX2.

Download it here
http://reshade.me/sweetfx

and here to download the sweetfx config file for IL-2
https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/game/1012/

Without SweetFX

With SweetFX

Good news is it has little impact on frame rate

Also recommended for graphic improvement, but with some impact on frame rate is Gurner FX . Not sure whether GurnerFX is included in the CUP modules or not, but whatever the case if your pc can handle it its a great mod!

I think i have to give up
The only way to use my native resolution 3840 x 2160 is to install the latest patch,m which is 4.13, and with 4.13 i can't use any mods ( CUP or HSFX )
@SGT68
I thought those mods, C.U.P. and HSFX, already improved the graphics, textures, etc

Give up??

As far as i know (i am open to being corrected here) CUP and HSFX will give you a whole bunch of supertextured maps, a water mod called water=4, a mod to improve the 3d models of wheels cowlings and props , some improved cockpits, and also a mod to use HD skins on your planes. That is the only graphic improvement over the stock game that these 2 Mod packages offer.

All graphic tweaking thereafter is generally done from one's graphic card control panel in Windows, and adding  mods such as i described in my prev post.

I think there is little point running the game at 3840x2160. The difference would be negligible. If it was DCS I'd say fine, but IL-2? No.

Run 4.12.2 at 1920x1080, then install all these lovely mods. You'll be laughing.

Give up? Patience my friend. You can get any resolution that your hardware can handle, you just might need to enter some values manually. All is not lost! But you will have to do some homework, and there are many people here willing to walk you through the process.

Read and heed.

Ok, i installed the game again ( Steam ) and first thing, i want to make a backup, just in case ...
Now i have to install the patches ( 4.12 ) i already downloaded all the CUP files, I have to read again how to install them
I saw some videos on Youtube, with CUP mods, different cockpits, textures, the game looks great.

LE : i installed the patch 4.12.2 and i changed the resolution values, manually. It's working
Now the hardest part : CUP mod

I know i have a lot of homework, but i would like to know which link is the best from start with.
As i said, I already downloaded the CUP files, 17 in total.
I do not start to install the mode, first i want to make sure that those 17 files are the right ones
I wanted to upload a printscreen with all the files ( in folders ) but i can't use any external links for uploading images
Can i follow this topic or not ?

start here to install the basic mod:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,37662.0.html

then go here to start downloading the CUP modules which it sounds like you have done.
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,248.0.html

Main thing is the first stage is installing Modact 5.3 on top of your vanilla 4.12.2 game. You probably have
read the documentation and know that already.

good luck

even with the stock game, without adding any mods, you can improve the graphics by editing manually some entries in your conf.ini.
there are numerous threads explaining the changes, i won't go into repeating it all here now.
do yourself a favour and read up on these threads and the info they provide, in order to get the most out of the graphics...

Thank you very much, guys. I download now SAS Modact 5.30 and AI Flyable pack 5.30
I only modified in the conf.ini, the resolution. I didn't know i could modify something else in this file, for improving the graphic, etc
Do I need to download / install / SAS Featured JSGME Optional Mods for Modact 5.3.X ?!
I'll be back after i download the files, the download speed seems to be very slow, allthough i have a fast internet connection.

LE : okay, i installed SAS Modact 5.30 and AI Flyable pack 5.30, tested, okay so far.
Now, what's next ? CUP modules , or something else first ??
