A problem with Resolution
« on: March 30, 2016, 03:00:12 PM »

Hi guys, I dug through this forum and I couldn't find an answer to my query so I hope you all don't mind if it's so extremely obvious that no-one else needed to ask it. Basically I can't change the resolution of the game without it crashing. Except it sort of doesn't crash and stall the computer, the game temporarily cuts off as it usually does and the new screen in the selected resolution starts for a split second and the game ends, just as if it had shut off normally. The same thing happens when I try to modify anything else in the same menu.

I have C.U.P on IL-2 4.12.2 and this wasn't a problem since I installed so I assume it's that causing the problem. Otherwise exceptional mod. Thanks guys.

Close the game completely, and go to the game directory, find the file conf.ini and open it in notepad.

Find this section, titled [window], and make changes there. To get mine running in 1920x1080, I use the below settings:

[window]
width=1920
height=1080
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=0
SaveAspect=0

Save and close the file, start the game. Don't go back into video options within the game, if you do it will reset to something like 800x600. Make your changes in the conf.ini file with the game closed only.

sounds like a permissions problem, which might happen if your game is installed inside Program Files folder.. which it shouldn't...

Hi again, I copied out your one MrMojok and put it in place of my own with the resolution changed to suit my laptop and that's solved it. I think the difference was each of these were like this:

DrawIfNotFocused=1
EnableResize=1
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=1

God knows how, thanks anyway for the help chaps. :)
