All modules at once
« on: May 06, 2016, 12:45:24 AM »

Hello there guys!

First of all, thanks for the great pack. It really is breathtaking in terms of size and quality.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm a huge sandbox guy and when I first saw the whole CUP mod I thought that all planes from all modules are available out of the box.
But now that I know that each module is basically it's own "theme" that runs on it's own there comes a huge question from me.
Is it possible to mod the mod in a way that will let me do stupid battles between WWI fighters and vietnam/modern era strategic bombers?
I've never really did advanced IL2 modding so I may be unfamilliar with most of the limitations, so pardon me.

I'm not an expert either, but I think they use different (incompatible) types of flight models.

Hi ! You still can custom any install/module with any plane you want, if there is no plane-related incompatibility, it should work. If you don't want to mess with your CUP modules, try with the #SAS/Modact one  ;) At some time, the game with all mods became so big (and the loading time increased insanely for low specs computers) that the choice had to be made of themed installs, allowing then to change visual and sound effects in order to be specific to each era. It's a matter of taste, and a way to keep heavy modded games stable. By the way, flight models conflicts are still possible between MiG-21 and Fokker Dr.I  (or even more probably, difficulties to damage modern bombers with WWI fighter weapons) but...you're free to try  :D

Thanks for the answers, is it a matter of modifying the air.ini files to include all of the planes from all modules, or do I also have to do some copy pasting between the content folders?

I'm afraid not. It's more about taking the stand-alone mods that you want here on the forum and installing them (air.ini lines + mod folders, as usual) in the modules where you want to add them. Remember that modules are not just about planes, they include effects, sound and textures mods and by reuniting all in one module, you would have some different versions of the same mods conflicting. C.U.P. is meant to be modular, (as the CUP-Manual would say much better than me ;) ), it's definitely not just a big "all-in-one" mod-pack with everything in a quick/easy install.
