JTW, ILS with the Hornet (and other jets)
« on: July 25, 2016, 12:36:13 PM »

Hi,
I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong board and I hope that an admin will move my post to the right one...

I've installed CUP and JTW and I want to use the ILS with the Hornet.  The CUP USMC F18/AV8B manual says "set ILS Stationary Object on the runway and tune the Beacon reciever to it."  But I cannot find the ILS stationary object in the FMB.  Did I install CUP incorrectly ?  Can somebody help please ?

ILS, TACAN Beacon stationary objects were released in "F-4 PhantomII v1.40" topic.
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,40856.0.html

If CUP/JTW doesn't contain it, please install it by yourself.

Its in there under the FMB Object Menu:

[TACAN_RADAR]
OBOE(F-4)            vehicles.stationary.CandCJET$OBOE_F4Unit 2
OBOE(A-7)            vehicles.stationary.CandCJET$OBOE_A7Unit 2
AN/APQ-109(F-4)      vehicles.stationary.CandCJET$APQ109Unit 2
AN/APQ-94(F-8)       vehicles.stationary.CandCJET$APQ94Unit 2
NAV(F-4/A-7)         vehicles.stationary.CandCJET$F4_A7NavUnit
ILSBLBeaconHannover          vehicles.radios.Beacon$ILSBLBeaconHannover    1
ILSBLBeaconLAafb             vehicles.radios.Beacon$ILSBLBeaconLAafb       1
ILSBLBeaconYokota            vehicles.radios.Beacon$ILSBLBeaconYokota      1
ILSBLBeaconKomatsu           vehicles.radios.Beacon$ILSBLBeaconKomatsu     1
TacanBeaconUSA               vehicles.radios.Beacon$TacanBeaconUSA         1
TacanBeaconTachikawa         vehicles.radios.Beacon$TacanBeaconTachikawa   1

I will add the TACAN to all JTW Quicks for the next update.  Meanwhile you can do it yourself very easily in about 4 seconds per mission.  Here's the object, method and effect.

Little bit nose high there - power it in and hit the brakechute...  ;D

Hey mr. Monty! What does Edwards mean? Edwards AFB?

Yes, JTW-Edwards_AFB is a series of QMB missions for The Jet Age.  If you have JTW installed scroll down through QMBPRO and they will be there.

Hello it's me again.

The TACAN and ILS were not installed in my version of CUP for some reason, so I downloaded the 7z file from the "F-4 PhantomII v1.40" topic page (thanks for the link).

I understand from the readme that I have to edit some textfiles (stationary.ini and so on), which were not difficult to find.

But now, I'm sorry, but I don't know where to move the 3do folder and the other files.  Is it in the #SAS folder or somewhere else ?  And do I have to keep the upper folder ILSTACANBeacons ?

The only explanations that I could find in the forum were that mods should be moved to the "MODS" folder (duh), but I don't have any, so I guess it's not applicable to CUP/JTW.

Thank you again and sorry for being such a noob.

Oh and, by the way, is it me, or the Hornet in JTW is tremendously overpowered ?

I've heard not few times about JTW missed ILS,TACAN stations contents packed even their stationary.ini entries are ready.
Monty, please check again the released archive.

+1
ILS is a landing assist.
TACAN is a cruise navigation assist.
When you make an instrumental landing training mission, the station to be set on the airbase is ILS (not TACAN).
And all the ILS stations are tuned to be set on the side of the runway and the middle place for its length.

To pyker:
To install my ILSTACANBeacons onto C.U.P./JTW,  the target folder maybe #JTW (not MODS or #SAS).
Copy the folder "ILSTACANBeacons" itself to #JTW.

Success!
(I put the ILS folder both in #SAS and #JTW so I don't know which one it was supposed to be, but it works so I don't really care)
Thank you again !

I found the TacanBeaconUSA in my FMB list but it is not showing any picture.  And when im hitting the Insert key, it is not doing anything.  Im trying to Insert it at the end of the runway.  Does it mean i dont have the TacanBeacon?
