Hello Masters of the Air!
I'm fairly new to Il2 and CUP alike. First I'd like to thank the developers of this mod pack for their effort!
I've managed to implement some custom "in flight" music tracks and got them working (I tested them on the Spitfire, G55 and Bf 109).
Unfortunately for reasons unknown to me the music does not play in any of the FW 190's out there. I have the "in flight" music toggled on and didn't really experience any other sound-related problems at all. I'm not posting a log file because I'm not getting ctd's. etc. I've searched the tech-board but didn't find anything alike.
Please if You have any suggestions on solving the problem I would be really grateful for help. Granted, the lack of music doesn't prevent me from playing and enjoying the sim but it's something that I would like to have working...
Oh, and please forgive me if the whole problem happens to be caused by me simply being a dweeb. Have mercy on a noob!
Hey you dweeb noobs!

- Welcome aboard, good to share your interest and thanks for a good post.
In-Flight Beacon selection is indeed a fantastic feature but it requires that certain objects, with the proper national asssigments, are physically added to the mission you are using. That's the
MISSION not the
MAP.
You don't have to edit any maps, but anyone can easily edit any mission.
For what it is worth, it is my experience that in flight music (or at least takeoff music which is the only music I use) is map delendent. When using some maps, there is no music. On other maps, the music plays. This happens irrespective of the aircraft.
With that said, I did try several versions of the FW 190 on different maps. Some versions (I don't remember which) produce no music even on maps I know have working in flight music.
So experiment with different maps and aircraft and see what happens.
In flight music is not MAP dependent - It is OBJECT dependent and individual to every MISSION. It has to be placed there by the Mission Builder, even for QMB Pussies -

. The feature is present when the relevant beacons are added to any mission by using FMB. When trying different aircraft you also have to bear in mind the aircraft nationality and whether or not you are tuned to friendly or enemy frequencies.
Even if you are only flying QMB it is still possible to upgrade QMB missions by entering FMB from the Quick Menu, adding your beacons and saving the result.
This is most likely what you encountered previously. I have already modified many of the CUP Quick missions to include beacons. Anyone can add them, anyone can save and upload results and even post a link.
It is nice to see interest in this wonderful feature. Its much under-used IMHO. The entire QMB mission set could be upraded for Beacon Selection in a few hours. Someone should do it. If not I will get around to it...

How is this done so easily?
1) Make sure you have PAL's MissionPRO activated
2) Enter the QMB Menu and setup the mission you want to fly
3) Now in QMB add your beacons
They are radio masts found under 'Stationary Objects' - BBC plays English music - Honolulu Plays US programs and tunes, ROMA is Italian and there are French, German, Japanese, Hungarian and Finnish Radio Masts too. With a good mixture you can create much local colour and 'ear candy'. The content played by each beacon, when you have tuned to it, is contained in your SAMPLE folder, under the subfolder RADIO, within which are individual subfolders for each beacon containg wav and MP3 files.
If yours are empty or thinly populated then you won't hear much. I put out a big sound package for Beacons, ages ago, and have included them in campaign releases too. I will get those links checked and updated so we can all enjoy the sounds. The overall size, uncompressed, is just over 400 Mb, so not too ungainly...
Place several enroute in various areas because their signal strength varies with range.
You can make them RED or BLUE and so decide who has easiest access to them.
Make them part of the interesting scenery. You can also bomb them and knock out the radio station!
4) Save the result back over the mission you are editing
5) Exit FMB and go back into QMB
6) Go fly and enjoy the feature
7) Compile these and upload them for everyone else to enjoy

BTW - The same goes for the 412-CY6 features unique to CUP. I have also been enjoying QMB lately flying as an ARTILLERY SPOTTER! How about that, in QMB!? Again it is very easy to add the feature to any of the QMB sets, along with plenty of juicy ground emplacement targets, to get a whole new perspective on things.
I guess the entire QMB regime should be overhauled for the unique CUP features. This would multiply our mission options exponentially. CUP QMB could become pretty amazing...
Hmmmm........
