Butt Kicker - CUP (Il-2) sound issue
« on: October 17, 2016, 01:06:55 PM »

Hi, as a 'sequel' to my previous post on the subject, I would like to put up the next question: First I had the problem that the vibration of the Butt Kicker wasn’t equal to all view directions;
Left: 200% straight ahead 0%, up 45° and 90°: 25%, right: 0% and external view: 100%. Than Flying_H advised to re-plug the speaker cables, this worked ok; in all view directions a very nice purr  :). Only when firing the machineguns, the vibrations were at least 4 to 5 times stronger! This is not a very nice situation; lots of domestic opposition as the sound goes down two storeys, ruining the tv shows being watched down there. So now its down tot he ultimate question: how can the soundlevel of the machineguns be lowered in the game? I’m flying CUP / WAW.

Have you plugged the cable to the subwoofer outlet or the center speaker? I´d guess the sub! And that really fires up the frquenzies that are produced by the MGS and cannons! (this is maybe a wild guess) On hte other hand, are you able to screw down the freq response in any kind of equalizer? that may be another solution.

failing that get several layers of expanded polystyrene foam sheeting, stack them and sandwich between thick cardboard sheeting, place that under the buttkicker to prevent sound vibration from being transmitted through the structure of your home

For stock planes:

Change the spl level in the prs files.

Hi guys thanks for all the info and support, this is something I can work with.

@ Flying_H: I have a green and a black line out plug on the sound card and I swapped the Butkicker from the green one to the black one, thats all.
@ nyali: I think that the polystyrene will cause other 'domestic problems'.
@ vpmedia: Changing all the levels will be a labourous job, but if it can keep my Butt Kicker alive..

Max, never heard of it, you must be joking.  ;) Check out at http://www.thebuttkicker.com/gamer2
In the mean time I have found the right prs file for the Hawk 75; weapon.mgun_07_900 and lowered the SPL level to 63% of the original and still feel the vibrations of firing the machineguns. Now check out if the missus didn't.

Found the right prs by a gunsound matrix by Cirxc, that was old already in 2010. Does anybody knows of a newer version?
