Adapting HSFX campaign to CUP WAW
« on: October 21, 2016, 01:10:37 PM »

Dear all,
I recently found a campaign for the PBY written for HSFX. I installed it in my game CUP WAW. It didn't work. I tried to play one mission by installing it in the single folder, no success. I opened one mission in FMB, I got the complete map but when I tried to play, it didn't work. What should I change in the mis. folder to get the mission playable in WAW? I tried to install the complete HSFX game but it didn't work,
Best regards.

I've just installed it on my CUP WAW 20, Win 10, at the same location, Single/un.

You need to choose a plane to fly, when at the FMB. Anyone. At the start, no plane was "flag" for you, all of them are AI.

Choose a plane, just that.

Yes, simple as that.

Problem is that campaign uses squadrons not present in CUP, I think... probably the best way to adapt it would be that someone who has HSFX changes all the squadrons used to USMC01, for example (same for adversary, of course...).

Dear Cafs,
thank you but I don't understand fully your idea, I tried it but I just got a blue sky with some clouds. The campaign in question is "Cats on duty" available on Mission4today".
Could you perhaps dl this campaign, install it and tell me how I have to deal with?
Dear Gaston,
where can I find the various squadrons used in WAW 20?
Best regards to both of you.
One hour later:
I opened the first mission in FMB, choose the squadrons in the existing list, saved the modifications and launched the game. Beautiful image but an FPS of 0 to 2 (sound control still available, sorry).
Still working on it but need help.
Regards.

Yeah, just had fly missions No. 1 ( SAR ) and 8 ( Recon Patrol ). On CUP WAW 20, direct from the Selector.

Open on FMB + choose a PBY, anyone + click on Save ( NOT Save As...) + click fly or go to single missions and fly it there.

You need to do that for every mission, the missions are at "random" construction, i.e., several almost identical ones, but with little changes on location and/or the location of ships.

You can fly any plane too. Just click on it , in FMB, and tick the player window.

For the squadrons just change in FMB for a USN None.

P.S. = you need to ARM your plane and the others too. 4x500 lb for each one, in the properties file inside the View/Object window or you will get the "pink" plane and other issues.

Dear Cafs,
it works the same way as by changing the squadron numbers but I get an fps of 1.
In my conf.ini I followed the recommandations of Storebror i.e. VideoSetupId=17, Water=4 and Effects=2. Does it matter for the fps in this case?
I also created on FMB a test mission with the Rabaul map and a PBN: no problem of fps.
Does the amount of static items and buildings have an influence on the fps?
Best regards.

Nope, at least on my case, and my video card is an old one ( 4-5 years old GeForce GT 540M).

The missions were "light" on the side of objects, static or not. Half dozen planes/half dozen ships, more or less, with a good but not big flying boat base.

Awkward.
Yesterday I had to "cut down" a mission ( Goose Shooting) with 100+ planes, to half that, because of very low FPS. After that, all had gone well, with me became a double ace in just one mission, 10 planes shot down, with normal ammo. 9xJu-52 and 1xMe-109.  :D :D

I have no answers for that low amount of FPS. Like I had said above, the missions are from a 'light' type.

Sorry mate.

Dear Cafs,
eureka, I think that I've found.
In my conf.ini I had log=1. I changed it to 0 and my fps improved to normal values. It is not the first time that I remark that the fps decreases when the game has to write the logtext down. I still have some trouble with the loadouts and I would like to use the PBY with the bombsight in place of the Nomad, but I think I can manage it.
By the way, what is the game where you were so successful?
Thank you and best regards.
24 hours later: I remember the mission "Goose shooting" with a lot of Junkers and P40s. I experienced the same problem of low fps. I will try it again with less aircrafts. I forgot the bombsight of the Nomad, aie, aie. Thanks and regards.

Glad to know that.
The log = 1, I forgot this one because on my conf.ini it stays on No (=0).  :D

Have fun with the "Goose Shooting". The Ju-52s broke with just a good aimed 1 1/2 second burst.  :D :D

Cheers.

Dear Cafs,
just a last question, in the campaign "Cats on duty" written for HSFX I changed the squadrons and the loadouts to adapt them to WAW20. Each mission works in FMB. But when I try to start the campaign, I get a grey iron curtain with the name of the pilot rolling from top to bottom. Any idea of what I should do?
Best regards.

Tartenmuch I just fly this kind of campaigns in the "single mission" mode, mission after mission, just like a "normal campaign".
:D :D
