Newbie Forum & Flightsims B.A.T Installed And Working Thank You
« on: February 10, 2017, 10:01:12 AM »

Hi all,

new to everything. Purchased IL-2 Stormovik 1946 from Steam earlier today.

Updated it to v4133 and then applied all the C.U.P Modules in the correct order.

I selected the IL-2 Selector.exe to choose which module to run.

But when i attempt to run the game, i get a loading screen and then nothing.

Any help and advice, would be greatly appreciated.

1.
C.U.P. is (as indicated clearly) only for 4.12.2m game.
When you want to install C.U.P. , not to update the game over 4.12.2m.

2.
C.U.P. is a bit older modpack and out of date, now.
Today's latest modpack (for single play) in SAS is B.A.T. and it is recommended.
B.A.T. is also only for 4.12.2m , not work on 4.13.Xm.

It says in the C.U.P Manual and i quote............... The C.U.P. is a unique platform for
Il2/1946 patched to 4:12.2 and beyond........

Appreciate you replying though buddy, many thanks.

I will delete 1946 and C.U.P and go with the B.A.T Mod then.

Thanks again western0221

That was originally the intention, but I believe Monty may have written this before everyone realized 4.13 was not to be mod friendly.  :(

Thank you for the explanation, Captain Dawson.

I am downloading the B.A.T mod files now, so will give it another go.

I believe the Steam version is 4:12, so i just need to apply two patches then, i think.

Flight Sims are completely new to me, but i wanted to try something different.

I usually spend 10 - 12 hrs a day Train Simming  ;D

I appreciate the further info in regards C.U.P

ok - some helpful advice... your steam install is located in some strange location accessed via your steam menu....

Locate the Game folder for il-2 [its root folder] , copy this in its ENTIRE form to another location, either on the same drive ie C:\IL-2 1946 or D:\IL-2 1946.

Then mod the COPIED version of the game, this leaves you with a default , GOOD copy of the game, a BACKUP for when something goes wrong. Trust me this happens frequently. Also you can use different copies of the game for different mods, ie #1 BAT, #2 VP etc etc

Now while your downloading all the BAT files, download and read the manual, its a good manual, the first few pages give specific instructions on the installation. Make notes, read further, make sure you KNOW what goes where before starting. If stuck ask questions on here, read through the tech help in the BAT section.

Then when your ready, install BAT and enjoy it, trust me its better to do it this way than make the assumption that some have on here, there are those who feel they know all about mods, get it badly wrong and then insist its all the modder's error and nothing to do with being a know-it-all.

Above all else; once BAT is installed, you will find a ww2 sim like no other... you'll love it LOL  ;)

Hi nyali,

i have already installed BAT in it's entirety. But i am having problems (even after reading a good deal of the manual).

I selected the files for DOF in the JSGME.exe util and activated them. Then used IL-2 Selector.exe to run the game.

On the first occasion after selecting an aircraft to run in a single mission, the game locked up. The menu screen was blurred and out of sync and i had to ctrl+alt+del to get out of it.

On the second occasion i selected a different aircraft P47, but then the mission started with the aircraft nosed dived into the ground.

It had a pink engine cowl and bent propellers.  :D

I only paid £7.99 for the game, so it is no big deal.

I do like your last sentence, hahahahahaha.  ;)

Many thanks for taking the time to help.

you selected a single mission for the p47 in DOF ?

try running selecting DOF in IL-2 selector and then using QMB [quick mission builder] to select planes and map....

trying to fly a single mission made for ww2 in what is ww1 with DOF selected is aways going to end in tears, if you have pink or blank planes try installing dll set 2 [see manual]

Yeah pretty stupid of me. Finding it all a bit overwhelming.

Trying to take in all the info, from the manual.

I just generated a QMB mission with a flight of 4 Wellingtons.

No idea what i was doing, i engaged the autopilot and they just seemed to fly around in circles  ;D ;D

All good fun though, certainly impressive for a 10 year old game with the B.A.T mods added.

I also purchased Cliffs Of Dover and added the TF patches to that.

Many thanks for the further help nyali.

no worries, take your time - there's a large amount of stuff here to mess around with for hours or weeks on end.

If your flag is an indication of your geographical location....we're neighbours lol
