Black Sea map from 4.13.1
« on: February 13, 2017, 06:54:51 AM »

This map seems to have slipped under the radar since it was released in 4.13.1
There is a discussion on this SAS forum about the WIP map and that was several years ago.  This Black Sea map is more historically correct, especially with airfields around Sevastopol; plus, it combines both the Crimea and Kuban to make a larger mapped area.

I really like the Crimea retexturing by vpmedia using cyberolas textures so I was wondering how that would look on the Black Sea map.  I extracted the files from 4.13 and was excited that I was able to save missions in my vp mudpack with no problems.  I then inserted vp's Crimea load.ini file into the Black Sea map files to see how it looked.

The new textures seem to work OK.  The only unsatisfying issue is that one of the texture slots is used for both an agricultural field and for high elevations.  I think the only way to fix that is to change some RGB colors on the Map_T.  I'm OK with the map as it is (with vp's Crimea load.ini) but it might be a good project for someone else to repaint the Map_T if someone else wishes to do so.

With a little more work I was able to get a decent looking summer map but it could be improved by anyone.
I also have a winter map - thanks to textures provided by vpmedia and cyberolas.
The edmaps also need improving if anyone wishes to help with that.
I'll get them zipped up soon and available to download.
