Is BAT being ignored ?
« on: February 25, 2017, 07:31:50 AM »

Wonder why i don't see anything about BAT but here. Is there a rift against SAS by the "other" web sites that cover Il-2 '46 ? Didn't know about it a all till i came here. BAT is ,in my opinion, the best mega-pack that is available for Il-2 '46 there is. Easy to install and vast in content none can compare .

Thanks for your kind words sixtrings.
I think I've seen some negative comments about BAT "elsewhere", but I'm not visiting other sites frequently enough to be there before positive posts about it are being sanitized ;)
Not sure what drives their minds, but that's the deal: Their house, their rules.
To me it doesn't make sense to visit sites where there's nothing new, so I have to come here ten times a day (at least) and elsewhere... well... once every other week?

Best regards - Mike

Visits to M4T and SAS are a part of my daily routine. There has been some discussion of BAT at M4T, and the reviews do tend to be positive. For example:

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=ForumsPro&file=viewtopic&t=21904

Which said, one of the very first things I discovered about the web in general, long before Il-2, is the number of complainers and compulsive scolds who seem to haunt every forum. On the whole, however, the membership at M4T have a sort of "take-it-or-leave-it" attitude. In other words, trolls tend to be ignored.

Amother good thing about M4T is the number of mission builders and skinners who've become regulars at both SAS and M4T. A steadily growing catalog of their work can be found in the Downloads section at M4T.

Another reason I still go to M4T regularly is because I still have a non-modded Il-2 1946 (v4.13.3) that I use now and then. It took me quite a while to work up the nerve to install a modded version. That was CUP, and it's why SAS has become part of the daily routine here. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Been into the Combat Flight Simulator series and didn't give Il-2 series a chance even though i bought all the series till CLoD. Did not know there was so much on-line about it. Once i got into Il-2 '46 i was hooked for good. I'm so very thankful for all that's been done for this wonderful sim. May get into the latest series but apart from some eye candy i just don't feel impressed when i can have over 500 aircraft, tons of maps ,objects and more and all for free. How good could it get. Thanks to all that do all this for our enjoyment. Best Regards,Scott                   ps...The link you gave was me over at M4T !! HAHAHA!!

Just for information.

I made some screenshots of my mTorrent seeding BAT in the last several days and then put results into simple table.
Peer connections active when the screenshot was made and country of a peer:

The table does not include connections without country ID, they make 30% to 50% of total.

I looked at this thread:

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=ForumsPro&file=viewtopic&t=21904

...Wow, 413 with modified DGen - Two words for ya', 'pretty thin'...

B.A.T. is made for real Campaign Builders - Its not just about a few more aircraft or even a better DGen.  Its about new tanks, and ships, and objects, and textures.  Its about SAS_EngineMOD and giant Carriers with Steam Catapults.  Its about in-flight refuelling, new weapon systems and avionics, improved 3D, and maps, loads of maps, across a century of air combat.

Wanna play a modded DGen?  Or just keep to a few mods, nice and simple?  Be my guest - B.A.T. is not for you.

We made it easy for anyone to install - But B.A.T. is not for the faint hearted or the casual 'lightweight'.  B.A.T. is the monster of FMB with unlimited possibilities.  B.A.T. bows to nothing in its reach and raw ambition.

Sorry to the amateurs, everybody here knows what we are into and if anyone needs to have it explained - they probably won't get it anyway...

B.A.T. EXPANSION PACK SEVEN
BRING ON B.A.T. VERSION TWO

Are you ready?

The solution is to have a copy of everything on your "puter".........I have 424GB's of IL2 on my system, including the original, and one with an unlocked FMB.

Visit here at least once a day along with M4T and SOH. Trying to learn all i can about modding. Comfortable modding CFS3 but been with it the longest . Learning file structure and more here. Have a fully updated version,VP modpack and BAT. Always wanted CUP but never could get it to run (my fault). BAT was so easy that even a guy like me could get it (read the manual first) and had no problems. So many planes so little time!! Really enjoying BAT . Thanks Hanger 19 Team . Job well done !!

I don't!  I have a basic B.A.T. install, with two sets of mod folders, today and tomorrow, that's it (Plus the same setup on another duplicate computer).  SAS is the repository for anything else I need.  To be fair I do use a lot of disc-space on development and testing.

A BIG thank you to all those 'archivists' who preserve old links and obscure projects and seem to be able to travel back in time when its needed.  SAS~Gerax, in particular, is one of the best at this!

Of course, my earlier post here is a little 'tongue in cheek', because I like a passionate debate and life is too short to protect the humourless.  However, there are several approaches to how you sim and people follow their interests to varying degrees:

For me, Dawn of Flight is WWI in 412!  That means the planes TAXI.  Just look at Kevin Hoggard's missions or some of mine (being renewed atm), to see the old crates rattling around the airfields in scenes that come to life!  This was the reason for developing Dawn of Flight in the first place and these days there is nothing else that does what it does.

We all love The Golden Age too, with a unique flightline and a natural home for the Spanish Civil War and the early Colonial and Sino-Japanese wars.  Move to anything else and you are going to miss these.

World at War has a number of beautiful aircraft, ships and vehicles not seen together in this era on any other sim or version of Il2!  I'm working on my Battle of Britain and Desert War campaigns again and WAW gives me almost everything I ever dreamed of.  Coming up in BATEP07 are the early Ju88's, YT2s family given the PA_Jeronimo treatment, absolutely unique in Il2, B.A.T. once again.

The Jet Age is another era, not properly covered ANYWHERE else:  That is to say, that 413, or any other patch, pack, whatever, does not pull togeter the Jet Age material in the way that B.A.T. does, seamlessly.

You want to fly modern jets off the big angle deck steam catapult super-carriers?  You can do it independantly, but it will take a LOT longer to figure it out and install the various diverse packages than it will to install B.A.T.  Even then, you write a campaign for jets... - Who can you share it with unless you list the same complex procedure you went through to get the jets working? - B.A.T. solves all that like NOTHING ELSE in Il2.  You have the ships, the weapons packs (nearly all of them, some still to be released but it is done), the jets, the helos, its all there.

I recently had a discussion about this with Vampire_Pilot, one of the great campaign makers moving to B.A.T., and we were able to upgrade The Jet Age by adding Ship-Packs 2&3 (Asheshouse brilliant 50+ ship expansion with vpmedia's textures and classfile fixes for 412).  In this way Vampire_Pilot can upgrade his campaigns and put them out for everyone to enjoy, because of B.A.T.

In addition to all this remember that B.A.T. is made here at SAS.  - Where the latest code is being written, the best new features are being designed and tested.  The best Flight Models, new Engine_MOD (aknowledged Il2 ESSENTIAL MOD for anything post-410), Weapons and Avionics, like LGBs and TVGBs and CCIPs are developed here BEFORE you will see them anywhere else!  Thanks to the awsome modders of SAS the B.A.T. crew are able to help to test this stuff months ahead of the general curve...

Take my B.A.T. away and I could not exist on the thin gruel that others consider 'complete' simming.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Many thanks Jim, going through QMB on with a fine tooth comb and a fully modded B.A.T.

jt189 has resolved a lot of object conflicts and made QMB missions for B.A.T. even more user friendly and stable across all modules.  This is also helped by the new Universal Static.ini for B.A.T., which resolves differences between old WWI and modern Jet Age vehicle calls in FMB (and therefore QMB).  Because that's another thing that B.A.T. does - With the modules for DoF2, TGA2, WaW2 and JTW2 all running off the same basic Il2 install, you get great economy from a B.A.T. install. - Selector - Era Menu - Launch - All in one place.  That was also the point of B.A.T.

Kudos to the team who make 4.13. But, I think it'll go the same way as 4.11. That was because 4.10 had Ultra Pack, and both DBWs.
Most people will likely get into BAT. I may well instal 4.13 just to try the missions that come out though.
