Hornets Nest
« on: March 20, 2017, 04:47:44 AM »

The Hornets Nest.

Here are four of De Havillands Hornets for your flying pleasure. The F.1, F.3, F.20 and last but not least the F.21. All are Based on SAS~GJE52's excellent Mosquito FAA TR33 which can be found here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,36221.0.html . Thanks G.  :)

The de Havilland DH.103 Hornet was a twin-piston engined fighter aircraft developed by de Havilland. It further exploited the wooden construction techniques that had been pioneered by the earlier de Havilland Mosquito. Development of the Hornet had started during the Second World War as a private venture, an aim for the aircraft was to conduct long range fighter operations in the Pacific Theatre against the Empire of Japan. However, the war ended before the Hornet reached operational squadron status.

The Hornet entered service with RAF Fighter Command where it equipped several day fighter units and was commonly stationed in the British mainland. It saw combat in the Far East, being used successfully as a strike fighter as part of the British military action taken during the Malayan Emergency. A navalised carrier-capable version, the Sea Hornet, had been envisioned early on and was procured by the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy. Wikipedia

Updated Version by Mace Thanks to Mace the Hornets now have their own slots as well as a major makeover. Thanks Mace ;)

*In-cockpit information about airborne, maritime and ground elements in the aircraft’s immediate area available on request
*Some minor 3D tidy ups & lighting fixes

Radar Patch Mace discovered an issue with the Hornets radar workings and has made this patch as well as modified the link above to resolve the issue. ( See reply # 79 in thread for more details.)

Thanks for all your kind words everyone. They are greatly appreciated and you're very welcome .

Individual slots would be great but I'm sure that'll come about in due time. ;)

Cheers and thanks again,

Thanks Max and Ta183Huckebein.  :)

These are actually the reason I took up the 3D modding because I too wanted these in our beloved IL-2. They may not be perfect at this point but at least we have them to enjoy now.

@ Max They are indeed sexy birds and not only are they sexy but they have a potent punch to boot. ;)

Cheers.

If I recall, this was one of the more requested aircraft on SAS (along with the F7F). It is a beauty, so thank you so much for taking the time to design the Hornet.
