AI Crashing rather than Air Victory
« on: April 21, 2017, 03:13:01 PM »

Okay, I know you've seen it a lot.  I'm in DOF and get on the tail of an enemy AI, giving damage. In evasive maneuvers, they crash in the ground due to bad calculations per the craft they are flying.  They are too low and they try evasive maneuvers that kill them.  Its like taking an air victory away, ha-ha!  I had this happen with three AI aircraft, all in the space of three minutes!  It has happened a lot, but this was a bit much.

However, though the campaign never gave me credit for an air victory, in my head, I got three, because if it wasn't for my harassment and giving out damage, the evasion attempts would never had occurred, so at least for my army, air force, what ever, we have three less planes of the enemy to worry about.  They went down, and not at their air strip.

Oh, and I had two ally AI aces and both ground their planes as well!  Flew too low after the ground huggers and slid to a halt.  Only thing left for them to do is cheer me on.

it is a well known thing for WWI scenarios. The AI is bad at handling jets sometimes (thinks it's a Spit) and bad at handling a biplane (thinks it's a Spit)...

The problem is also depending a lot on terrain from my experience. Over even grounds it's not as bad as in mountainous regions. I am suffering of this effect as well currently while converting my Austrian campaigns. Lots of mountains to fly into, also for my squad mates.

It happens, can't be avoided since we can't train the AI. As for the "stolen" kills, you can easily imagine that in reality pilots' claims about kills would also have been contested and sometimes not allowed on record... so you know you got them all right but the brass just won't give you the official recognition. Take it as immersion;)
