U.S. Naval Strength Report dated 7 September 1945:
VMFN-533 with 12 x F7F-2Ns at Chinu, California (but the actual squadron were flying F6Fs out of Okinawa. (according to the Marine website: "In October 1945, the squadron moved to Peiping, China and soon transitioned to its next airframe, the Grumman F7F-3N Tigercat.) Other sources state that 14 x F7F-2Ns were ferried to Okinawa and arrived on 14 August.
VMD 954 (replacement training) had 1 x F7F-2P and 9 x F7F-3P at Kingston
VMFN-531 had 2 x F7F-1s, 3 x F7F-3s and 11 x F7F-2Ns still at Eagle Mountain Lake
VMFN-532 had 1 x F7F-1, 3 x F7F-3s and 7 x F7F-2Ns still at Eagle Mountain Lake
HEDRON MAG 91 had 1 x F7F-1 an d2 x F7F-3s at Cherry Point.
VMF-911, VMF-912, VMF-913 and VMF-914 each had 1 x F7F-1 all at Cherry Point
