Single Missions and Pilot Career problems in B.A.T.
« on: June 22, 2017, 06:45:25 PM »

Hello

I love B.A.T. I've just finished downloading and installing it. This is what I did:

-Use B.A.T. installer to install the files to an empty folder
-Read the Expansion Packs B.A.T. PDF manual sections, and follow instructions for correctly installing E.Ps 1-9, E.P.9 checkpoints and E.Ps 10-12
-Create a conf.ini file with the content provided in the official downloads thread, an edit it so the game runs at 1280x720 in windowed mode
-Compress the B.A.T. up-to-date installation folder with 7zip to keep it as a backup
-Install IL-2 1946 to an empty folder, then install the SAS Megapatch 4.12.2m over it
-Move the contents of the folder where I installed B.A.T. and E.Ps over the IL-2 1946 4.12.2m fresh install and click yes when it asks to overwrite files/folders

Then I tested B.A.T. playing with the QMB in Dawn of Flight, World at War and Jet Age and all seemed to work fine. Then I tried to play Single Missions and Pilot Careers, on these three ages. Always have the same problems in all ages (although I didn't test Golden Age):

The mission list seems to contain incorrect options

I don't see problems here, but I can select IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) in the Air Forces drop menu and I think I shouldn't be able to, because this is Jet Age... Also in some Air Forces I don't have any kind of rank or career selections, the filed are in blank

Now here is the problem, after clicking on "Start" this is what I get. No mouse and no "Main Menu" or "Generate" buttons :/
Can't get back to the main menu or start playing
Plus I guess I shouldn't be seeing a 1941 mission in Jet Age
The only way to exit the game terminate process in the task manager

Here is the log (from Jet Age, after checking "Single Missions" menu first and then "Pilot Career" menu, until the point of no return at the last screenshot, although same problems happen in all ages): pastebin[DOT]com/N61bv89D

Hope someone can help me

The new nations don't have any missions or campaigns to go with them. That's why.

Are you referring to all the problems mentioned in my post or just to the nations with no rank or career options?
There a few errors in the log file

Hi .-083,

You need to install B.A.T. Missions and Campaigns separately. Check the section: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,265.0.html

By default you have access to:

- Stock 4.12.2 Single Missions and Static and Dynamic (*) campaigns (these may work in B.A.T. or may not work)
- Some B.A.T. Single Missions and Static campaigs that were shipped with some Expansions

Go to the BAT Missions and Campaigns sections and download B.A.T. certified Missions there.

The standard campaign generator engine (dgen) only supports ww2 planes and maps from the stock game. It automatically generates missions based on a few parameter files located in your Dgen folder. It is useless for mods, it only works with the ww2 module (WAW). There's an alternative campaign engine made by Asura (modded dgen), which supports mods. It is not included in BAT, you need to install it. But it does not have a great number of mod campaigns.

The other type of campaign is scripted, it means that someone created and chained together a bunch of single missions by using the Full Mission Builder (FMB). You can dowload few scripted campaigns for the different modules from the link posted by Whistler, but most of the planes dont have any campaigns. Unfortunately nowdays not many people are building campaigns. You must learn the FMB, in order to get full advantage of all the mods included in BAT.

And here is where the VP Modpack comes into play!

VPmedia's VP Modpack is a dedicated WW2 super mod that comes with is own modded dgen and LOTS of dynamic campaigns ready to be played. No muss, no fuss! ;D

You can 'integrate' VP Modapack into B.A.T. as explained here or have a separate VP Modpack install and enjoy both.

I had been checking the "BAT Missions and Campaigns" section before downloading B.A.T., particularly Dawn of Flight and The Golden Age sections... And I thought it was all bundled with B.A.T., my mistake

Thank you very much for the clarification, I'll also check the VP Modpack :)
