June '41, Brest Litovsk
This is a 25 mission campaign for a Luftwaffe pilot in Russia at the start of Operation Barbarossa. It begins on the Belarus map and moves on to the Smolensk map. It does not make full use of all the available features of 4.12 because much of it was originally designed before that version appeared. It is also somewhat lean and streamlined without too many ground objects or lengthy briefings because, to be honest, I lack the patience to add them and, for me, it is all about the flying. It is semi-historical in that you fly for JG51 starting near Brest Litovsk just as the real unit did, and you move on to Orsha as did the real unit. In between, JG51 was based at Bobruisk which sadly falls between the two maps, so I have invented moves to a couple of new bases. The individual missions are fictional.
I have included a folder marked 'Belarus' which you can put in your mapmods/maps folder and which will, I think, improve the look of the Belarus map and stop planes appearing in tropical camouflage. What it does, is add some of the fine Smolensk textures to the Belarus map. This is entirely optional but I recommend it. My thanks to Uzin and Cyberolas for their kind permission to do this.(If you don't like it, just delete it: no harm done.)
When it comes to choosing a rank I think it is best to choose Oberst for this campaign and get rid of 'no instant success'.
