F4E/D strange behaviour....
« on: November 03, 2017, 11:31:44 AM »

Hi guys, I wish to ask to you info about a strange behaviour of F4E/D family. In this period I playing at the "vampire_pilot's Iran-Iraq War campaigns - Jet Wars over the Schatt al-Arab", and sometimes, when I managed flaps, gear or other devices, the plane go to shots and in some cases it explodes. It is also quite laborious to keep it level because it has a tendency to pitch up and down continuously....
I wrong somethings? In other planes I have not this kind of behaviour....

Many thanks for all your help. Ciao!

not something I experience with the F-4s and obviously no other as well.

what are you operating exactly and how? how does the plane "explode"? Sounds a bit weird and unspecific.

As I said, sometimes,  when I operate flaps, up or down, or when I operate gear rise or lower, the plane starts to go like jerky and in some cases it explode. I would not know how to explain it differently....

Is happened a couple of times during take-off and a couple of times during landing.

Maybe I could try to made a movie to explain better....

Ciao!

ah, I think I understand.

That's an FM issue and happens when you operate flaps at too high speeds. The FM seems to get a hickup because lift calculation does not compute right then.
Funny enough I have never experienced that in the F-4 in BAT 3.2, only on other jet aircraft, mostly during beta phase.
Are you playing with clean BAT 3.2 or do you have other stuff installed on top maybe?

try to mange you gear and flaps at lower speeds.

EDIT: I can see tiny jittering when I deploy take of flaps at some 500 km/h.... but, by then you should have all you underwear up-up-up.
That is way too fast for having anything hanging out in the air.... use airbrakes to reduce speed, not flaps.

but that has nothing to do with this:

That could maybe your joystick being a bit jittery around the 0? I have found the F-4 to be quite stable.
Also when flying a longer period in level flight, use stabilizer. It makes long flights so much more enjoyable.

A very clean 3.2, not other stuff installed....

Just after T/O, at about 500' speed is not so high but as I said, in a couple of times the planes go like jerky and then it explodes. In landing procedure also I try to have a low speed to manage gear and flaps....

It happen only with F4E/D. With other jets, or WWI/II planes or TGA planes, this doesn't occours....

Anyway, I will do some test at lower speed to check the behaviour. Then I will report you my impression.

Ciao!
