Seahawk skins
« on: November 08, 2017, 12:43:51 PM »

I hope that this is the correct site for my problem. I have BAT including Angels High and it all checks out but I am confused about skins for the Hawker Seahawk. In QMB and FMB only the German Marine skin appears plus 4 Banshee skins. There is no skin for any of the aircraft in Paint Schemes. However in JTW3 STD>Com>maddox>il2> objects Seahawks do appear. The website BAT_Skin_Collection_v3_R-Z contains some excellent Royal Navy skins but I cannot see how or where to put them.
Any help would be much appreciated for this wonderful simulator.

The German skin is the default, and that is correct. The Banshee skins are remnants from when it took the Seahawk's slot, but now it is separate and you can delete those from your Paintschemes/Skins/SeaHawk folder. Any repaints you wish to add to the seahawk go in that folder.

You can extract the BAT skin collection into Paintschemes/Skins, and it will add any folders needed that you're missing for those skins.

Thanks for your help ecf111 - I think that the Seahawk must have been added with Angels High. I've been able to add some Indian Navy skins without a problem. A similar problem occurs with Mirage 111's where they appear in QMB and FMB with Default skins but they do not appear on my Paintscheme>Skins list so I cannot add some Israeli skins.
Do you have any suggestions?

Many issues in IL-2 have popped up again and again, this site and others are a valuable resource for many years worth of information. Sometimes searching here will answer many questions without having to post. No worries at all, just trying to save everyone time!

Here's a post I found with a quick search, it sounds like where you are, I think:

Use the first entry in the air.ini for your new skin folder names. Sometimes repaints you may download are not in the correctly named folders, so check against the air.ini if they don't work. Also, different mods for the same plane may have different mapping for skins, so they may not work across the board.

Thanks ecf111 the link you gave has solved the problem completely. I had tried several 'searches' without success but obviously missed the right one that you provided!
