Real F-8 might have only 2x flaps positions --- Down (Landing) or Up (Clean).
No middle steps in its selector lever.
By the way, this F-8 looks not modeled leading edge droop flaps (inner and outer).
They are flaps, not slats.
They droop following flaps down.
And also working as combat flaps separately operated main flaps. It's called as "cruise droop".
Ah... FN and later J variants had double leading edge droop flaps and main wing lift degree is
decreased.
P.S.
In reading flight manual of F-8D, leading edge flaps control is full manual.
No automatic droop / up like referring AoA.
Ok Western, I installed few minutes ago the recent 1.1 version with working leading edge flaps but I see no difference, I try to explain myself better:
If I press the autopilot option at the start of my QMB (aboard on carrier or on a landing terrain strip) I can see the wing put in a position similar to the takeoff/combat position and not in the whole landing configuration. As if there were intermediate positions.
AI seems don't use edge flaps position or I did not understand how edge flaps can operate on this plane.
However thank for your reply and your interesting info about F8 crusader.
Also I know how different was this plane from the others in the early sixties and it was a really wonderful creature for his age!
Bye, Poiana.
