How do you remove the spats? I cant figure it out
- make hidden then it is hidden for all the planes of same type.
- make a new version without spat (slot).
- or customization: only one bird has no spat. ( feature is in game for a few planes, too few  ::(  )
- go to link and read wheelsup_cavu explanations.
- checksum for a skin is then used.
- this Customization file is in DXXI_SARJA4 skin file:
Code: [Select]
This file is used for customizing some minor features of the plane by binding them to certain BMP skin.
To enable some feature, put the skin's checksum under certain tag. To find out the checksum, clear skin cache
at PaintSchemes\Cache, start the game, load skin and alt-tab back to Windows. Now cache folder has a new folder
named with long series of numbers. This is the checksum.

[NoWingSlots]

-5016774096145386674

[NoWheelSpats]
-5016774096145386674
- checksum number is different for each skin.
- so "How do you remove the spats?" You don't. The game does It automatically for the chosen skins, and for these few aircrafts .
- There are other features such as gun sights, nose shapes, slats, mirror.

I sincerely thanks wheelsup_cavu for explaining "customization".
But I experimented with HS-129B-2 and did it the old fashion way EZ.
That is I find his method of of using "net-cache" and then ntrks recording and playbacks unnecessary.

The "cache" checksums are exactly the same; they can be access while the game is running W/O change to conf.ini setting:

- I put game on pause ( not required ) , then use Microsoft Logo Key to bring game to desktop toolbar.
- I then access PaintSchemes\Cache while game is running and use copy.

An example of result codes for Hs-129B-2 I selected from some desert skins of mine:

Code: [Select]
[SmoothNose]
4917863385515425869
-3503329613842308807
-5575644412158524558

[NoMirror]
4917863385515425869
-3503329613842308807
-7087086619729879520
-5575644412158524558
[NoDFLoop]
4917863385515425869
-3503329613842308807
-7087086619729879520
-5491051560572417176
My hope is that some astute modder can expand this technique to some other planes, one day.
Awareness at least, if it is not possible for now.

I thank you very much for explaining this but I still cannot make heads or tails of this process. Im still not really sure of how to go about doing this but I dont want to come off sounding like a huge dick.

Is there a list I can follow? Can someone make one? I just need something concrete to help me work my way through the steps.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Quote from wheels:
•Pick a plane that has a customization.ini file
?Hs 129 B-2, 1942 - Hs-129B-2
?D.XXI Sarja 3 Early, 1939 - DXXI_SARJA3_EARLY
?D.XXI Sarja 3 Late, 1941 - DXXI_SARJA3_LATE
?D.XXI Sarja 4, 1941 - DXXI_SARJA4 (AI only plane)
?I-16 Type6, 1937 - I-16type6
?I-16 Type 6 (skis), 1937 - I-16type6_Skis

First check in skin folders of all these planes if you have a file called customization in each.

For Hs 129B-2 I already had entries for skin DESERT in customization file. You must have that skin for sure.
It's checksum is  4917863385515425869.
If you have these entries in file customization, then this effect is already working for U, in your game for that skin and that plane.

PULL DOWN your game to the desktop while it is working, or shut down the "erase cache" in your conf.ini.

Look in cache for names of files for each skin you used or are using. Numbers names are the checksum.

Using that number is like putting that skin on NOTICE in customization file for what you want be done whith it.

THE GAME DOES THE CHANGE for each planes using the "ON NOTICE" skin(s); the skin is on a black list. Like: don't ever give a drink to this guy ! He is on the black list !

So no spat, no mirror, no loop, wathever the list is for.

But only these planes so far.

demo

I checked: HS-129B-2 "desert" skin and customization file in 409 : no go.
In 410 YES.
In 411 YES.
In 412 YES.
In BAT YES.
In 413, I don't know, but my bet is for yes.

Just compare a default skinned plane to a desert skinned plane. Check LOOP antenna, nose holes, mirror on top of cabin exterior.  = demo
