PROGRESS SO FAR.
« on: February 04, 2018, 04:51:39 AM »

I have loaded BAT up as per instructions (Vanilla IL2 1946, updated to 4.12.2 with BAT 1.0 OMOD, config.ini copied into base file, BAT DLL2 installed and all of the four MODs Chpt Charlie, sealion Angels and Pathfinder installed) successfully. Added the missions for Dawn of Flight as the first testbed, all installed specifically as instructed. Read the associated Manuals at least 3 times each. BAT Game Type Dawn of Flight Selected with good ram indicated, and what could be added in JSGME selected.
I have done everything to the book.
Results:-
1. In QMB I can select a variety of aircraft along with relevent skins, select maps of Western Front. Models are beautiful ground detail superb, and flight envelopes performing as would be expected of each type of aircraft. Damage detail modeling again very good, and the general "feel" is really excellent. AI for enemy aircraft is also excellent, producing a good challenge. That is all of the good stuff. Now come the problems.
2. Single Player looks to me as if it is all screwed up. from the first image it is clear that Dawn of Flight MOD has been launched but subsequently when trying to select a mission nothing works.

I select Royal Flying Corps and this comes up. Nothing is available other than Battle of Britain.

I click on "Brief" and this comes up

3. Pilot Career is zany too. I select this and this screen comes up.

Now I dont know what is going on because I am not technically savy with programming, but this is what is loading from the Expansions etc that are downloaded via torrent. I have not tried out careers in WAW yet which is the next MOD I would like to try, but I imagine that is going to work effectively.
Can you please advise where I need to go to get the career part of this working, because I am now at my wits end, having deleted the IL2 Main folder at least 4 times and reloaded it all again. QBM seems to function fine but there is really something amiss I believe in the DOF files.

That's not a bug , but (a bit confusing) feature limitation within the scope of BAT's design.

BAT IL-2 Selector can switch game eras with playable aircrafts and usable tanks / vehicles / ships , but cannot switch mission lists shown on Single Missions screen.
Even we choose DOF game and only DOF aircrafts are available, Single Missions screen still shows WAW (and some additional JTW) missions they are using WAW aircrafts not contained by DOF game , too.

In my looking to Single Missions screen of DOF, NO mission is made for DOF by default.
You can download mod missions from "BAT Missions and Campaigns" section and install, play them.

That is correct.

The problem is that you are trying to play in DOF a mission or campaign designed for WAW. Stock/DOF/TGA/WAW/JTW campaigns and missions will always show up regardless of the module selected.

Okay thanks guys, I will keep working at it if there is nothing wrong from what I have said. Getting nearer all of the time, and looking forward to the point when I can get either the campaign or single player mission going properly, instead of relying on the QMB to have fun (although so far that has provided some great flying experiences).
I have the "Rise of Flight" sim with all of its add ons, and to be honest, I found flying the Fokker Dr1 in these mods more enjoyable, and the fireing platform was more stable and behaved more as expected, than the Rise of Flight Sim so, great work by the MODS. Its the thought of things like this that keep me persevereing to achieve a sim on my PC that will produce what I have seen in so many of the You Tube clips.

Look at this part of SAS for your Dawn of Flight Campaigns and Missions:  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,268.0.html

First of all, Salutations and heartfelt thanks to Vortex for giving me the link. I am really grateful for it. Dont know what I had been doing wrong for certain before, but its Happy Days at the moment.

 :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Wuhoo.!!!! Finally got the campaigns going in the DOF. Its been hard work, deleting the game and reinstalling it so many times, but it has been worth it. Ground details excellent and the detail whilst on the ground is amazing. It just looks so........ so ........Professional!!. I'm giving a big thank you here to Monty for all of the terrific work he has put into making this mod and I look forward to playing through each section. I have started on "The Early Days"which starts me off in April 2016, thinking that this is the first one.
I flew a Nieuport 15 (I think it was) and had had a fair old scuffle with Fokker Eindeckers..... there were loads of them!!. Came out of that okay and uninjured landing back at airfield. The additional graphic of ambulances and firetrucks along with ground crew, added a brilliant touch to the tthe appearance.
From eventually flying this successfully (at last!!!!), I picked up one point an observation, and a second point that may be handy to other necomers I discovered who approach the game similar to myself who want to start a career.
1. Observation :- quite a few of the fokkers I shot down were not destryed on hitting the ground. Instead they tended to twirl and jump like a bucking bronco. I am not sure if this is a known issue but thought I would mention it here whilst still fresh in mind.

2. For the Aspiring Newcomer (noob) I found that if I tried to use a saved character profile already used in another campaign or just as an identity who has a record of progress (mine was from the WAW) kills or flights, the game crashed. The answer is, if you wish to start a new campaign in this (or I presume any of the other sections) you have to invent a new character, save him and choose him to be your pilot in that era/nation. It has been tripping me up for so long (if this is the reason why my game ket crashing yet there was nothing wrong with it) but I am finally glad I have found it. I am going to experiment with this issue a little more and will report back my findings, but now all good for the time being, flying in an era I have always fancied flying in. Never got the same satisfactioon or feel from "Rise of Flight", this is a far better quality product.

I Blucher I use the same identity from many years and for everything, missions, campaigns, etc... I ever hasn't any problem with a only identity....

Is possible some other issue?

Ciao!

Hmmmn, interesting. Thanks for the heads up on that. I have experimented with this and tried a profile as I say which I have used in WAW, and one for the Jet Age, and clicking osing those for a new DOF campaign, well it just seizes up at the selection screen flickering ay with no control. I have started a campaign called flying circus, after inventing a new profile and it just launched no problem. I just wondered if it could be some form of incompatibility with trying to selct the profile after going through starting the game with the IL2 selector and it boxing off only those assets that are flown in the selected era and not a pilot jumping into  maybe an F105 who so far has seven kills in a Fokker Dr1

Hey BLUCHER

Have a look to https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,47154.msg600278.html#msg600278

The Multi-Profiles feature was designed with B.A.T. in mind to avoid the annoyances you are experiencing...

I think you must select profile BEFORE starting a new campaign. I guess if you change the profile after starting campaign you will occur issues.

I use ever the same profile for every campaign and/or mission, but if I should to create a new profile for a new campaign, I will begin to select the profile from the list and then I will start the campaign.

Ciao!

In my looking to Single Missions screen of DOF, NO mission is made for DOF by default.
You can download mod missions from "BAT Missions and Campaigns" section and install, play them.

As a beginner in SAS-BAT, it was also my problem, thanks for having fixed it.
The heavier game folder I had before was Silent Hunter III + GWX 3.0 Gold: 8 GB.
For that, I would not have thought possible to have a basic folder up to 60 GB and no one mission for DoF! Now I hope I understand correctly and will try to properly install missions and campaign, I want to go flying in Virtuoso!

Edit: I get it !

I'll never forget this first mission finished in flame due an engine blow up !

Thanks all.
