Map or minimap
« on: April 02, 2018, 07:27:43 AM »

I have 1946 and DBW 7.1, and all is good until I go to my map "m" the mouse look locks and I do not see a map and as I said my mouse is locked until I press "m" again.

I use "#DBW_Ecran Wide for 4.101" for my widescreen.

this may have something to do with it:

[game]
Arcade=0
HighGore=0
mapPadX=0.9861111
mapPadY=-0.009259259
viewSet=32
Intro=0
NoSubTitles=0
NoChatter=0
NoHudLog=0
NoLensFlare=0
iconTypes=3
eventlog=eventlog.lst
eventlogkeep=0
3dgunners=1
ScreenshotType=0
RecordingIndicator=1
MapAlpha=0.47
SaveTrk=1
IconUnits=0
SkipParatrooperViews=0
NoMissionInfoHud=0
noKillInfoHud=0
BlockMorseChat=0
SmallMapWPLabels=1
ShowMorseAsText=0
mapPadMode

what errors written in your error log ?

In game screen or mouse / keyboard / axis operation locked up time, many loop error exception lines might be written out to the log.
It may help up to advise you.

It was the Config.ini. The problem was this:

mapPadX=0.9861111
mapPadY=-0.009259259

It must have been off the screen I guess. So I made a fresh install of the CD, then I copied the originals config.ini which was this:

mapPadX=0.66875
mapPadY=-0.047222223

Its a bit off but at least I see it. You know my last time around with DBW I always had problem with the 00_PALMiniMapV2.4 or other versions, in the same way as his last post years ago, with the right click menu and all.

Is there a way to use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out, and or improve resolution, and how? I do not know what to edit: the .Ini or the actual GUI folder in the 00_PALMiniMapV2.4 mod folder. Does one cancel out the other?

Sorry but its been a while since I last brought out my CH gear to play IL-2.

Of course I need your help or I would not ask, I am just troubleshooting by trial and error and the minimap mod never works as it is supposed to.

Sorry if I offended you, but if you read the edited part about the minimap mod you will see I do not really remember what to do with this mod, this mod has baffled me to the point where I gave up last time. The .ini was a guess and I guessed right.

This was not meant make myself look like I know what I was doing it was a guess.

Here is the place I have my Minimap Mod:

Version:

The minimap is practically the same as the vanilla one.

Don't worry about it Bob. Western is Japanese, not a native English speaker. I'm sure he meant no offense, he's one of the most knowledgeable and helpful guys here.

Good advice. Remember that people here come from all over the world.

I've been playing this game since 2006 and still can't land properly. Though I have not learned to land, I have learned that when someone is trying to help and they ask for a log file (log.lst in your game root directory) it is good policy to provide it.

OK I get it, his wording did not make sense to my issue, It was not an error or CTD type thing, I did not add a log because I figured he thought that I was providing a log file in the first part which was am Ini, and I could not understand why he wanted one.

So I guess I misinterpreted his entire post, and just realized why: "mouse lock up", meaning that maybe he thought the game has locked up, where as the pressing "M" just put me back in the mouse look - so "M" no map screen - locks mouse look - but mouse pointer is moving - "M" again and back to game but the map did not come up.

Like I said I'm just a player not a techie or modder of any kind.

It was not an error or CTD type thing,

I'm strongly sure that's one type of exception errors.

Do you read my post ?

Error ? or not ? That will be cleared with the error log.
When the log doesn't contain any exception error lines, then firstly we can decide that's not exception errors and from something other reason.

I have 4 expansions that I bought here:

https://www.fspilotshop.com/other-add-ons-add-ons-c-2_84_101.html

Battle of Britain 1940
Norway
Pacific Wars 1
Stalingrad

That lock my PC up at 44% while loading an intro video. I would not mind getting help with a log file with these expansions. I even put the intros into the records folder and tried to play it and my PC froze at 44%. I can play them but I have to edit the campaign ini and remove the lines that mention the video, or play single missions of them.

OK ADD has just eliminated what I was going to do next, Sir thank you for trying to help, I was not disrespecting you in any way and now that I reread the post by: vonofterdingen and realize the log file is in the root directory. I am done with the mapmod any combination and any version I cannot get it to work like posted by pablo many years ago, in other words: no radar, no right click options and no scroll zoom, like he posted on version 2.3

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,8327.0.html

and while I am sure it is not his fault I cannot get it to work years ago and not now either, so scrap the minimap I give up on it.

If anyone could help with the loading crash of an into video, I would like to work on that.

Those expansions were released 8 and 9 years ago. It's possible that they are not compatible with the game anymore. It's not so unusual if old campaigns don't work in current versions.
