So i got il-2 1946 v 4.07 and i installed a mega patch 4.12.2, Then i installed modact 5.3 and the language changed to french.

Im using a windows 7 64 bit with french as my default system language.

(I also installed JSGME)

change to locale=en in conf.ini

• Stop / Exit IL-2 1946 (mandatory!)
• Open conf.ini in Notepad
• Search for [rts] section
• Check whether the section contains a "locale=" setting
• If so, change it to "locale=us", if not, add "locale=us" line to the [rts] section. Match case!
• Restart IL-2 1946, it's in english now

It is working.
I wrote the code behind that logic myself and it's working for a few 1.000 other users for many years now.
You're the first who doesn't get it to work, even with two pretty simple guides at hand.
Guess who's error it is.

In which drive, what named folder path do you install IL-2 1946 and Modact 5.30 ?

When there is a place Windows UAC function protecting (in example, C:\Program Files (x86)\ ), your true conf.ini file is redirected to Virtual Store folder and the same named file found in the installed folder is never read by the game; Your editing on the conf.ini in the installed folder makes no affects.


If so, retry to install the whole game from the first in outside place of UAC protection .... is the best way to avoid troubles.

I changed my display language and i reinstalled everything outside the UAC protection, and it works.
