I've been trying to change the water textures on the HB_Atolls map. I've read just about everything there is to read on this subject but I feel there is something or some step that I'm missing. I'm using UP2.01.
I followed your directions carefully but I can't get the textures to change. I downloaded the load.ini file and the Tarawa shallows textures and put them in my mods folder in the HB_Atolls folder. The load ini changed but that didn't do anything to change the water textures. I'm missing a step here and I'm not sure what its is. My load ini has the tarawa shallows texures. I noticed in other maps in the load ini in the water section that the name of the map is included. I also niticed that there is a "water" file in the Files folder that holds some maps etc. Should that be in the mods mapmods maps _Tex folder. There has got to be a simple solution. I can't find a tutorial that tells you exactly how to change the textures.
thanks

Hi Relic, do you have your UP2.01 set for perfect texures?

Hi there
Yes I do. UP201 doesn't come with a mods folder so you have to create one. In the files folder is a maps folder. I'm just wondering if a guy is supposed to move whats in that file to the MODS folder mapmods maps
I.ve re read some of this material and some textures are done differently. In some places you put the textures into a "Water" file and in others you don't. It is a little confusing.but I'd really like to knaow what I'm doing as the bombsaway textures are really nice copared to what I've got.
thanks

Which texture do you want to put in the HB_Atolls map? In the download the read me will tell you to put it the Bombsaway Tarawa if its one of my older ones. Newer ones will say to put the texture in the water folder in your _tex folder in maps. Find out where the read me says to place the texture then go into your maps folder, find the HB_Atolls folder, open the load.ini or HB_load.ini whichever it is using, open the ini with note pad then go all the way to the bottom where you will see......

Water0   = water/water.tga
Water1   = water/water.tga
Water2 = water/BA_Shallows_DeadCoral_E.tga
Water3   = land/summer/grnd/fields_proc013.tga,4
;Water3   = water/Beach.tga

Here I am using another of my textures in the water2=. In the read me it will tell you the entry to make in water2=, place a ; in front of the one that was being used then copy and paste my entry below water1=. That should do it. Let me know if you need anymore help. :)

You mentioned that I should put the textures into a "Water" folder. I don't have a water folder in my maps mapmods maps tex folder. There is a water folder in the Files folder. A question I had earlier was whether or not I should move the Waterfolder from the files map tex folder to the mods mapmps maps tex folder. This is whats a little confusing. I've been putting textures into my mods mapmods maps tex folder. I think this is where I'm getting screwed up..When I put a map in I overwrite the tex folder.I'm watching this a little more closely as I think overwiting might be causing a problem The rest of the stuff you mentioned I understand its this Water thing and overwiting that might be casuing the problem.

I got yor message.
thanks.
I did exactly what you told me above and it still didn't work.
This is what I did. I took your textures load.ini and replaced mine in the HB_Atolls map. I went to my game and got into the FMB. I went to the HB_Atolls map but I got an error message and the map wouldn't show up. I went back and put the original load.ini back in and tried it again. The map showed this time. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Should a guy load the whole load.ini or just the bottom part?
thanks

The only error message I saw was in the game when it crashed. The error message was:
Il-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles:Il-2FB.exe-Application error.
The instruction at "0x5ed0530e" referenced memory at "0x0000051c"
The memory could not be "read".
Click on ok to terminate the program.
If there is another place where I can find an error message please advise.
thanks

I have another question for you. I've been trying ti find the error log and I can't seem to find it. When in game I've tried the shift-tab and it doesn't seem to work. If I could find this error log that may help.
thanks
