Or, is your config.ini "read only"?

What you're experiencing there brav6 is actually the fault of the mapmaker, not your graphics card.

Yes, if you run it in perfect, the cutting effect will disappear, which is probably why the mapmaker didnt bother running the proper tools, he probably built and checked his map only in perfect mode.

I ran into this when Team Pacific put out the first beta of the Solomons map. Turns out there is a tool that inserts a repeating pixel in the map_C and that repeating pixel is what excellent mode reads to align the map.

May I ask what the name of this tool is and where I might find a link?

Like suggested on the 25th of March 2013 it must have to do with the graphics card. Usually when perfect settings is greyed out it is a graphics card issue.
It would not surprise me if brav6 does have/had an integrated laptop graphics card.

Sorry to say but why still bothering about Excellent Settings. In 2015.

What surprises me is how much stuff gets lost over time when it comes to map making. If it were a graphics card issue it would mean that I would NOT be able to reproduce brav6's problem.

Yet,

I allude to this very issue here:
http://allaircraftsimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=126&t=866&p=14754&hilit=+excellent#p14754

because as I was saying, when I was building the map_c files for the Slot maps, one of the beta testers pointed out the issue. Its not a graphics card issue at all, its entirely an oversight on the part of the mapmaker. If not the maker, then its the tools he's using (or not using!)

Hey guy's, waaaay back in Reply#12 the link for the "Tarawa Revisited" texture is broken.  I asked Bombsaway but he said his computer was down at the moment and recommended asking in here if someone could provide me a copy/link...

Anyone?

TIA,
Dennis

One question, Are these textures included in BAT? If so, what map should I try in QMB to see if I see the textures properly?
I am not sure I can see the water like in the first pictures ...  :-| config.ini, maybe?

Try the BP_Midway map. Thats the one I made this texture for. I think it's listed in BAT as Midway_1941.
