I'm singling out the 9600K because it has been binned twice at least, which is not all that common, even not for Intel, it only has been introduced massively with the 9000 series that way.
Anyway I'm not saying that all i5 9600K are crap just because of that.
Luck may have it that you get a CPU that never failed to meet any specs and just got binned for marketing reasons.
After all, the 9600K CPUs at least must have been indicating that they still have room for overclocking, otherwise they would have ended being i3's or i5-9400 at best (which is probably the worse choice then).
It's just the bad taste in the mouth that remains, still this is the CPU I'd consider to buy right now if any.

Alright guys, I volunteer as the guinea pig, just ordered me a kit:

Intel Core i5-9600K
Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X
Scythe Mugen 5 PCGH
16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4-3000

Let's hope for the best.

Attention: That video posted by vpmedia is absolutely misleading!

What's being tested there is merily the integrated graphics part of both chips.
No doubt about the fact that AMD Ryzen CPUs have more capable integrated graphics than Intel CPUs.
However, integrated graphics on IL-2 1946 (and CloD or BoX for the same effect) are generally a no-go if you really want to play the game, regardless whether we're talking about the Ryzen's or the Intel's integrated GPU.

Leaving the GPU part aside, hands down any Ryzen is a dud in gaming compared to contemporary Intel CPUs.
And that's what counts for us Flight Sim enthusiasts.

You're a funny guy :)

I posted the video because they came to the same conclusion as you.

You're a funny guy too.
The conclusion might be the same, but before reaching it, they show for a quarter of an hour how much greater the frame rates are on the Ryzen compared to the Intel.
Whatever message the creators of that video wanted to get across, they failed.

Once again an 11 minute video where there's 5 seconds of valid conclusion. Great :-X

Btw I'm not posting these vids for you.

Imho a Ryzen 5 2600x is adequate for any of the current flightsims at average resolutions.

This Forum has a PM function.
If you don't want me to read what you write, use PMs.

If that's the only criteria, then any "good" 15 year old PC fulfills it, too. No need to buy anything in that case.

Thank you vp and storebror.

I think that there is so much out there opinion and information wise that it is difficult for someone like me to chart a path.  I know just enough to make the wrong call. HA!

I found this while searching for more info on VR.  Running VR on an integrated GPU.  I would still want a dedicated GPU, but surprising that it was able to.  It is a vid from 2018, but, I thought it was interesting enough to post.

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/testing-amd-ryzen-5-2400g-with-windows-mixed-reality,5508.html

I've read that some changes are coming to vr.  And thanks to posts here and elsewhere I know that not all is perfect in VR land, so, I will recommend that it is better to wait before investing in the headsets etc.  Let us see what they announce?

Heck his system runs IL-2 better than my steam powered pc, so, he can deal.
