Making a torpedo attack in that barge
Indeed. If it was up to me, torps could be skipped on this release as they don't really make sense.
The idea of the japanese was to send a whole bunch of Fugakus to fight groups of enemy ships.
The first wave of Fugakus would have been strafers, with 400 (!) 7.7mm guns shooting down on ship decks.
Right after that, a second wave of torpedo Fugakus would then cross the fleet and drop their (up to) 20 torpedos using wide spread angles.
That way a whole battlegroup could theoretically get sunk - on paper. Not in reality of course.

Now that we don't have no strafer Fugakus, the torpedo attackers don't really make sense.
At a max. drop range of 2000m, the Fugaku would have no choice but to cross the attacked target more or less straight on.
It's easy to imagine what the outcome would be, if the deck wasn't cleared prior to that stunt.

I take it this was the Japanese equivalent of the B-29 and the Lancaster?
Rather the equivalent of the B-36 than anything else.

Even WITH strafers I say using this monster as a torpedo plane is a really hare-brained scheme ...

Can't wait for this. A proper Japanese bomber, not some flying lighter that carries 5 bombs

The G10N has Two in order, G10N/Fugaku can be used by Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service

And the Project Z (G10N) can be used by Imperial Japanese Army Air Force.

my book on japanese secret planes says they didn't think guns were necessary as the huge service ceiling would prove sufficient in keeping away allied fighters.

On a serious note, there's been some delays due to real life commitments of the modders in charge.
Since two days now the project team has changed and the new schedule is... two weeks. Literally. Not IL-2 "two weeks".
