Is the folder you extracted the aircraft too one then the 3d0 folder or do you have two because if the plane is in the wrong place it won't work.

When I unzipped the plane files -  I removed the paints- and then  moved the rest as they were to the Mods folder which I made. The 3do file is inside the plane folder.
I hope that is what you mean??
The plane Folder is named He51C-1 every thing is inside that file.
C:\Ub\Stur\Mods\He51C-1

Hey guys. I found this thread while trying to install planes with HSFX 7.03. This is my first time installing planes outside HSFX 7.03; I'm trying to install the SB2C-1C Helldiver by barnesy12. Has anything changed since this post. Looks like it's a few years old at this point.

I'm trying to install the Pacific 2014 campaign.

But, I'm having a heck of a time just getting a plane installed. I've ensured that I updated the air.ini file, I downloaded the new button file, I placed the plane mod in the MODS folder, and I placed this Diff_FM_Mod in the MODS folder.

I keep crashing at 60% and have tried the troubleshooting mentioned in the forum.

I really don't know what else to do; I've been working on this pretty much all day.

Hello, i tried to add the Spitfire PR MKXI  (cf https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2773.0.html) in HSFX7.03 as described here but i had a crash at 60%.
As far as i understand the problem i have to get the right button for 4.12 but don't know where to get it.

First of all lets introduce the concept of don't mess with core files.
Heres a painless guide to not doing anything wrong.

1)  In you main IL2 directory
     You will create a folder called Mods.

2) And  then create a folder call STD in all capital letters

3) Return to your main IL2 Directory

4) Open the Files Folder  and copy the following files com , gui , i18n 

5) And paste those in the newly created Mods/STD folders

6) Now that you have those created you can add all the mods you want.

This is an excellent solution. It's taken me a long time to stumble across this very old post, but thank you, Patton, for sharing this information!
