V-22 Osprey and other VTOLs
« on: June 21, 2019, 12:45:44 PM »

Hi there !

I am trying to fly the V-22 and others VTOLs, like Harrier or Yak Freehands.

Very difficult ! I have assigned the rotating jet exhaust for the Harrier and Freehands, and it is working. Fly them is quite difficult, but I am learning.

But for the Osprey... how do I rotate the tilt-engines ? I tried the same command as with the Freehands, but no go... am I missing something ???

The V-22 was added without the tilt rotor capability, so it is flown just like an twin engine plane.
I read this somewhere when it got included in BAT 3.4. Can't seem to find that thread now :-|

My bad, I didn't know we have a new FM!
I'm going to try it out now :D

The take off procedure of the Osprey is a bit different than other VTOLs in game, in fact the Osprey has the engines in the UP position when on the ground.
Basically you start up the engines, gather a bit of speed and take-off like any other chopper, BUT when airborne retract gear and you will see the engines slowly rotating to CRUISE position. The engines position is related to the gear.
When you want to land simply deploy gear and the engines will return to UP position

The V-22 in BAT has a completely remodelled Helicopter FM. This is only so in BAT.
So to fly it, you have to apply the same rules as to any of Vega's remodelled helicopters in BAT.

It is completely different from the original single download from Aviaskins back when it was available.

Thanks for answer. So, if I understand right, I must take off, and then retract landing gear.

Will try later !

Thanks, gentlemen !

Made my tries... that's it, thanks ! engines rotate after landing gear is retracted (and rotate back when landing gear is deployed).

The rotation is quite slow, and seems to depens of the speed. So it is quite delicate !

The rotation is hust show! It does not affect flight physics.
That would men a completely different approch in the java.
