f7f mod crash
« on: June 21, 2019, 06:59:56 PM »

I downloaded this mod https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,61769.0.html and tried to make the appropriate changes to the designated ini and properties files, but my game crashed again and again without even going past 70% loading progress. I went back and forth looking for whatever I missed, but I added all the things the mod told me to. So then I realized I tried putting it in waw instead of the jet age like where its supposed to go, but even after erasing all the lines I added in the waw files, and changing the jtw ones, it still doesn't work. I checked to see if I added lines to the air.ini so the planes appear in the list, and I did. I also put the planes themselves in my jtw folder.

I don't know what you did to your BAT but it's screwed

Ship: Value of [USSLosAngelsSSN:Part3]:<HeadMaxYaw> not found
Can't set property

It all starts with this and deteriorates from there. No idea how that error relates to that mod you mention, sorry.
my opinion is, you have done something else which you didn't mention. 70% is usually an .ini entry error.

Moderator note (final):  NO FULL POST QUOTES!

This happened earlier when I made the  mistake of putting all these things in  waw's folder instead of jtw. Thankfully, I was able to undo it because I have old versions of all the ini files I had to edit. After I put them back the game doesn't crash anymore, but trying to add these entries to the ini's doesn't help either. Am I supposed to parse each line of text or it doesn't matter how its formatted once in the document? It took me a really long time to make the weapons.properties line up perfectly.

Also i'm not sure about the ini editing you think I did. The catapult.ini, technics.ini and all those other files have been untouched for as long as I can remember. I just never had a reason to change them. I have added other planes before and edited the air.ini to make them show up in the game, but I doubt that's the problem.

I have reviewed the mod in question and I am afraid, I can't assist further, I don't have this mod and it is more than simply "adding another aircraft". But one learns in attempting.

Since this is not really a BAT Tech Help issue, as it is a (advanced) 3rd party modding attempt to BAT, I am moving this to lounge.

oh  :(

I think I'll decide to leave out all the ini entries and just put in the planes themselves and their air.ini data so I can actually play the game. The other functions probably won't work but I don't care at this point. Just frustrating how others have gotten it to work.

Sleep a night and try again, one step at a time.
On a side note, I think the presentation of the  necessary .ini changes in this multi-column over several pages pdf format are not exactly helping the copy/paste attempts...
It's unusual and not necessarily easy to handle.

If you have a working and fully updated BAT version it is a good idea to leave it well alone. If you want to experiment with new mods (which can indeed be tempting) it could be a good idea to do this on a cloned install - you can have any number of IL-2 installations on your rig

It's not much on an issue with "simple" aircraft usually, but this particular mod there is a very nasty machine that goes deep under the hood, calling for all kinds of incompatibilities. You need to know what to do to help yourself.

The fact that it’s so hard to install makes it more strange that no one else has an issue with it. It looks cool but right now it’s just not working. Also the way the pdf is formatted doesn’t make it easier, since copying and then pasting into the ini just jumbles everything and I have to rearrange it. Not sure if it makes a difference though.

Hi Denko, you'll find, inside the Project_Beartrap folder, a folder called "Add_to_.ini_.properties_files" that have all entries for the .ini and .properties on separate files, one for ships.ini, another for air.ini and all the others.
If you have the Project 85 Mig-15Kish files on your BAT ( it came with my old, good and stable CUP mod ) the entries for the aircraft carriers, target barges, target sub, target range and windsock are already in your Mod.

Cheers.
