Editing an FM
« on: August 22, 2019, 02:31:44 AM »

I have tried to take a look in several FM files, but they are in code obviously and not editable with a text editor.

However i was wondering if it is possible for amateurs like me to edit the FMs in some way? There are biplanes for instance that fly incredibly fast, other planes that hardly maneuver when being attacked, others that fall apart after a few hits and so on ... there seems to be lot of scope for tweaking FM's in some aircraft.

Possibly related is the issue of the other planes of my own flight always seeming to be faster and more manoeuvrability than my own plane. How many times don't they seem to shoot forward, overtake me when I am at maximum power and then swoop up and down. Doesn't seem realistic.

Do you use this tool to decompile/recompile them?

For AIs who exceed you... it's normal!
In IL-2 the AIs are always at an advantage over the human player. There's nothing to do.

Yup, one of the most annoying things. Somehow, the CruiseSpeed setting is set way too high for some planes because TAS was taken in account instead of the IAS, especially in Dgen. The G4M is the most glaring example with a cruising speed of 350 km/h instead of ~270 km/h.

Many thanks. I had no idea what an NTRK Wizard was supposed to do. So now I'll give it a try and see if my limited coding knowledge (=a virtual 0) is up to figuring out how it works.
