A fun thing to do with Gubi's chronology is to fly "this day in 19xx," since there are missions for pretty much any calendar day, for one year or another.  The missions may not be strictly historical, but they give an idea what was happening on this date in history, sometimes in theaters you haven't thought of for a while.

This week, being Battle of the Bulge +75Y, there are a lot of 1944 missions for any given day.

I often wake up at 0500 and can't get back to sleep, so I went down to the PC and flew the first red and first blue mission from 12/16/1944, both over Bastogne.  The red mission went fine; I kept my distance from a flight of 190s and eventually picked off an unescorted Fw 189.  In the blue mission I was not so cautious, got low and slow with too many Mustangs in my 109G-10, and paid for it.  Both missions ran perfectly and were dawn flights with pretty skies, although the maps used were a bit too summery.

This type of thing is what keeps 1946/BAT the most clicked of the dozen or so flight sim shortcuts on my desktop.  Endless variety and the ability to tailor the mission to your whim.

I'll have to try this out, thanks again Gubi!

So best installed to a Vanilla DBW 1.71?  I have a few favorite aircraft that aren't normally included in the DBW and DBW1916 folders.  I can always doctor the .mis file in NotePad++.

I have to admit I'm less a WWII enthusiast than WWI. But I really liked the Battle of Britain patch for MS Combat Flight Sim 3.   It's why I'd like to see a Bouton Paul Defiant in DBW, oh well water under said bridge, there's also BAT.

Strongly agree with genXgamer that this should be stickied somewhere, or atleast moved to the missions section. As a noob it took me forever to find this gem buried in the Lounge. There are over 13,000 missions compiled here. All arranged in chronological freaking order. WWII DAY BY DAY in a flight sim, how cool is that?

This is an incredible accomplishment Gubi, thanks for all your efforts.

Most days have many missions not just one. Both sides, multiple theatres, whatever was happening that day...Example: was reading Charles Lamb's book To War in a Stringbag and thought hey I want to fly a Taranto Raid mission. I go to the 1940 Oct to December folder, scroll to November 11, 2255 hrs, and there we go, after fiddling with some torpedo issues I'm in a Swordfish getting torn apart by flack and dodging searchlights in the dark trying to blow up a battleship. Good times!

I learned yesterday that this amazing single mission pack was available so I move it to a more suitable place.

I just discovered this treasure trove as well. What an amazing and generous gift.
BTW, if anybody is interested the _ru problem (briefings, etc) can be easily and quickly resolved by PowerRename in MS PowerToys - a great collection of free MS utilities.

Bulk Rename Utility does it also very well... hope these missions will work in BAT !!!

Gubi prepared these missions with DBW (reason for the _ru.properties) so here and there you may face some loadouts mismatch or some outdated map load.ini but in general they should work.

An I correct in thinking most of Gubi's missions set was incorporated into Whistler's missions pack for BAT or are they of a different content.

At just one mission test per day that would be about 35 years! lol. Some of us probably don't have that long alas.
