Request - Small Hurricane Cockpit Improvement
« on: November 25, 2019, 06:36:18 PM »

G'day Everyone

Is anyone capable of improving the appearance of the 2 canopy handles for the Hurricane?
They look shithouse and stick out like dogs balls in an otherwise great looking cockpit.

I just edited the alpha channel of an image and the handle is gone:

Making up a set of proper 3D handles would be a relatively simple operation. Especially important with an opening canopy.

But more important than this is the awful framing surrounding the armored glass. I've already addressed this some years ago, before I knew about the sliding canopy mod. At some point I need to incorporate this into the new mesh (done by another modder) where the sliding canopy part was separated out for the sliding canopy mod.

G'day VP

Thank you for taking the time to look at my request, you truly are an asset to the IL-2 community.
Unfortunately I was after the handles to be improved not removed, this is entirely my fault for not explaining myself more thoroughly.
Sometimes what seems obvious to me may not be for others especially when communicating with people from other parts of the world.
WxTech has been good enough to address my request.

While I have your attention, are these 2 folders meant to co-exist? or does your Cockpit Mod folder supersede the DBW one and can be removed?

To see if a mod folder is redundant, open up each and peruse their contents. If there are differences between what the two folders contain, then both should (or must, more likely) be retained.

Only if both contain the identical content is it at all likely that one or the other is redundant. Not guaranteed! It could well be that superficially identical content differs in the date of Creation/alteration, where one file supercedes its otherwise same counterpart.

One must be careful when deciding upon folder or file redundancy! A safe way to proceed is to rename any 'suspect' folder or file with a "-" preceding its name. If after doing this and restarting the game no untoward problems result--after THOROUGH testing and assessment--then might the redundancy be valid.

A safer strategy when not well familiar with all modding aspects: If it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it! ;)

Unsurprisingly Cockpit_DBW only means that the cockpits were extracted from DBW. The other cockpit folders contents came from other places. Next time maybe look into the folders. :)
